Warm greetings and well wishes my friends

i wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas, and show you a little about what a traditional danish christmas looked liked

here you see mom while we are decorating the tree

instead of Turkey, we have DUCK for Christmas

though they sell the duck with the heart and lever still inside it, so some times you need to clean them a little extra.

(Fisting the duck there, eh mom?)

in my family, we like to put prunes and sugared apples inside the duck, just for added flavor

(though mom has to chase me out of the kitchen, because otherwise i will eat all the sugared apple slices before she can use them)

then we stick it in a cooking bag

before we stick it in the oven

and it turns out like this

looks yummy doesn't it?...IT IS

it is served with normal boiled potatoes, glazed potatoes, and a sauce based on the cooked off fat and juices of the duck

BUT before we have the duck, we have a yummy rice porrige

because that is the food of Santa and his elves.

then when dinner is over, and our stomachs are filled with food, it is time to light the tree

most people use electronic lights, but we prefer living candles on our tree in my family

but i think christmas is the same in one aspect all over the world, no matter where you live... it is a time to spend with family
