So I've been thinking about making another experimental story since we're getting close to Christmas. The basic idea was another experiment like Deafened by Silence was.
Rose: Because you still haven't learned your lesson from last time?
Anyway, after re-watching the Hearth's Warming Eve episode, I was making comparisons between Hearth's Warming and Christmas when it suddenly occurred to me that ponies really don't have much in regards to religion in Equestria. Sure, they sometimes swear by Celestia's name, but she outright says in Celestial Advice that she wasn't aware she was an expression. And even if that was just a joke, she would probably be the first pony to tell you she wasn't a deity. Especially since Equestria doesn't seem to have anything resembling a church or temple dedicated to worshiping her (and she probably wouldn't approve if they did)
So THAT ended up leading to more questions. Since the pony world is much more manually control than the human world with the weather and the celestial bodies, how would ponies react to the concept of religion? That some kind of unknowable powerful force was out there controlling their lives. I mean, you see how they act around the Everfree Forest. The natural world freaks them out at least initially.
Right, back to the story. The basic idea was Sunset inviting Twilight to the Human World for Christmas. During the trip, the two of them would visit one of Canterlot's churches for the traditional Eve service and be regaled by the tale of the First Christmas.
Rose: And afterwards they'd toast marshmallows over your body while the inevitable flame war you started burns you to a fiery crisp.
So considering the last "experiment" I wrote ended up getting a lot more attention than initially intended, I felt it prudent to get a second opinion before continuing.
That actually sounds like a wonderful story, dude.
