    Check In

    Afternoon/evening folks!

Sorry I haven't been checking in as often as I should; rest assured I'm not dead, I'm still here, just been silent as of late. Still working on fics, but also constantly debating with myself on what to focus on next, wanted to make some new stuff that isn't just Shattered or Star Wars. Wanna bring more folks in, do somethin' new.

    Top Ten Films/Series Of 2023/Reflections

First off, Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

Hard to believe another year has passed, hasn't it? *sighs* how time has flown by. A lot's happened this year; more stories, more creativity and entertainment has come, and I've learned more about myself, and I am very glad for that.

Goonies Review · 5:10pm Nov 2nd, 2017

Lets begin 80s month with a Steven Spielberg classic. Now admittidely, I didn't see this movie as a kid so I had no knowledge going into this. I just went in with an open mind, cleared my head, and let everything from the movie sink in. And by the way it still blows that their DVD version of bloopers just means 'deleted scenes' and not actual people screwing up :ajsleepy:

But with that said, let us jump into the first movie of 80s month, Goonies!

When two brothers find out they might lose their house, they round up a group of friends to try and find a way to keep their homeland. How will they do it? Buried treasure! They find a treasure map and bring their gaggle of friends to go on the hunt for it. In addition to finding lost treasure, they need to avoid criminals who are on the search as well, so now its a race to get the golden treasures before the villains!

Where do I begin with how amazing this movie is?

The actors put in their all into these performances, and that accounts for the child actors. Corey Feldman does a great job of playing our main lead, along with other performances from Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, and even Data who you know as the kid from Temple of Doom does a great job in this movie, really loved his acting in this movie than his screaming performance. Data is honestly my favorite character in the whole movie, just from the fact this kid is prepared with every gadget on his body.

The characters are charming, memorable, and they can be taken seriously. You can tell they're serious about the predicament they're in and they don't want their own home taken away. And as the movie goes on, you can see how supportive they are of each other, and how good friends they are, as we all should be. Always having each other's back no matter how big the hole is of the problem. Plus, the characterization of the villains are really good too, you can tell these guys don't joke around. They ain't playin' with no one, and you can tell these guys hate kids and animals.

The story is written very well too! They're all trying to solve an extensive treasure hunt, and with each puzzle and challenge that approaches them, it has a purpose that continues to give them aid for their next puzzle. And I really love the puzzles in this movie, they're pretty neat and look a little fun. Now I wouldn't want to risk life over them mind you, but they look fun nonetheless. And you really can sense the hope and adventure that the story presents here.

Special effects and set design are another plus. Practical effects built in with great sets complement the children's acting as opposed to go against it. And I really love the look of these sets in the underground areas, they look really well done.

Overall, not only is this a great movie, but its a fantastic movie. I highly recommend this movie to you all out there. For anyone who hasn't seen it, go see it! I loved this movie, and I bet you will too. A fun adventure movie, with a satisfying result.

I give this movie, a 9 out of 10.

Thanks for reading, and let us continue our adventure into 80s month!

PS: I'm gonna give up the week of 12th to the 18th for something else to review, because a special event is happening that week.:raritywink:
