Writers block? Or noise? · 6:03am Oct 23rd, 2017
I haven’t put out anything new for a while. It’s not that I don’t have any ideas it’s that I have far to many. For example I have been planning on writing something for Sunset Shimmer since the second EG movie... seriously... ask Tidal.
It’s just that all of my ideas can’t work together. After spending days filtering out some I am still left with many. You would think I am writing for a Bioware game because the ideas are different possibilities for a certain part of the story.
What’s the main story? I have two ideas
What’s Sunsets goal? I have like three ideas.
What’s her backstory/development like? I have like three ideas.
etc
I would write multiple stories, but frankly the main plot lines are similar. The events that take place are just slightly different. Unlike a Bioware game I can just reload to see how the other path would have developed.
I am stuck lmao. Any thoughts?
My advice would be to throw caution to the wind and write something without even thinking about it. Just assume no matter what you write it will be bad so that way you don't care and you at least write it.
THEN...
When you're done with the writing, you can criticize it with an overzealous eye and get it to where you want it. And that's the easy part, because you already have the story down.
So, as far as being confused about where to take the story, don't worry to much about it. Just find a beginning and an end and fill the path there with bullshit. It's like driving down the freeway. You know where you're going but you have to go through some construction bullshit and traffic on the way. Get through that, find the ending, then figure out a better path when you're done.

That’s sound advice. I’ve been trying to do that. My concern is that I typically write and post one chapter at a time. So in order to do this I would have to write everything in advance. Which isn’t a bad thing... it’s just daunting.
