Creative Channeling: Custom Cards · 11:45pm Oct 20th, 2017
That's right: custom cards!
... Though, perhaps I should start with something a little different? As I said in my last update, it has been a pain to write any additional content for What Lies Within (or any other stories I had originally planned to create) -- and that has so far remained true. Whether due to real life/family matters or simply not being able to call upon the right words to say in the unlikely event I did find the time to write, it has been... not great.
However! Once upon a time I fancied myself an avid card designer, and thus I have a few to my name, which I plan to show off here as a way to provide anyone reading with a sense of my creative tendencies, though I am still stuck on how I want to proceed with writing actual fiction. A big part of why I feel as if my creativity was stunted during my story's creation is that I decided to limit myself to only cards that found themselves released in the TCG/OCG while also attempting to utilize the new Master Rule 4, which kind of made writing for certain Decks (like Speedroid and Phantom Knights, two of the three Decks that were featured in the story) a pain in the butt.
I'm kind of rambling again; and if you're here, you're probably looking for cards and not more of me talking. So; without further ado: My custom Phantom Knights cards!
The Phantom Knights of Shatter Axe
DARK Warrior/Xyz/Effect Monster
Rank 4
ATK/2500 DEF/1500
2 Level 4 "The Phantom Knights" monsters
Once per turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it, and if you do, this card gains 500 ATK. If this card would be destroyed by battle or by card effect: you can banish 1 "The Phantom Knights" monster from your GY instead. If this Xyz Summoned card leaves the field: You can target 2 "The Phantom Knights" monsters with the same Level in your GY; Special Summon them and decrease their Levels by 1, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters.
The Phantom Knights of Berserker Axe
DARK Warrior/Xyz/Effect Monster
Rank 5
ATK/3000 DEF/2000
3 Level 5 DARK monsters
If this card has “The Phantom Knights of Shatter Axe” as Xyz Material, it gains these effects:
- You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; banish it, and if you do, this card gains 1000 ATK. This effect can be used up to twice per turn.
- Once per turn: you can target 1 other “The Phantom Knights” monster you control; destroy it, and if you do, you can add 1 “Phantom Knights” card from your Main Deck to your hand.
Once per turn: if this card would be destroyed by battle or by card effect, it is not destroyed. If this Xyz Summoned card leaves the field: You can target 2 "The Phantom Knights" monsters with the same Level in your GY; Special Summon them and decrease their Levels by 1, but banish them when they leave the field, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters.
The Phantom Knights of Solitude Wisp
DARK Warrior/Link/Effect Monster
Link Rating 1 (Bottom)
ATK/0
1 “The Phantom Knights” monster
This face-up monster you control cannot be destroyed by battle. You do not take battle damage from battles involving this card. Once per turn: you can target 1 “The Phantom Knights” monster this card is linked to; it gains 1000 ATK until the End Phase. If this Link Summoned card leaves the field: you can target 1 “The Phantom Knights” monster in your GY; shuffle it back into the Deck.
The Phantom Knights of Ashen Dirk
DARK Warrior/Link/Effect Monster
Link Rating 2 (Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right)
ATK/2000
2 DARK Warrior-Type monsters
You can only Link Summon 1 “The Phantom Knights of Ashen Dirk” per turn. When this card is Link Summoned: you can activate 1 of these effects:
- Send 1 DARK Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.
- Select 1 banished “The Phantom Knights” monster and add it to your hand.
If this Link Summoned card leaves the field: you can target 1 DARK Warrior-Type monster in your GY; Special Summon it, but banish it when it leaves the field.
And that's all of them, for now! I was thinking about putting little blurbs in between cards that explained why they're named how they are or what I was thinking when I designed each of their effects, but I feel as though it may be more fun to try and figure it out without me tossing card text exposition at you. Though if you're curious, you can always message me -- my inbox is always open.
That's all for now. I'll see you all in anywhere from a few minutes to a week to six months from now!
Take care,
Requiem

Thanks! I remember you showing me a Link P.K. monster that you created a while back (May, I think?) -- and I'm not going to lie, the idea behind it inspired both of my own Link monsters.
