Secrets and Pies review · 3:15pm Oct 14th, 2017

(Since I saw this episode early, my thoughts on this episode resonated long before it released. At the time of this review, the episode hasn't aired yet so be warned, there are spoilers)

Be honest and don't lie! That's as basic a message as you can get, and that's the lesson here ladies and gents.
Also, seriously, Rainbow Dash? It's bad enough that you lied about liking something to your friend, but the fact that you kept this lie for years, and you've been disposing your pies carefully so that Pinkie won't see you eat them? Oh, and you've been feeding some of those pies to your tortoise... which they can't digest. This whole thing could have been avoided had you just told her straight up that you didn't like pies.
She didn't want crush her feelings, huh? Well guess what? Lying about it and disposing Pinkie's hard work into making said Pies, is a whole lot WORSE!
So, yeah... regardless of how you feel about lying to not hurt your friends, it's still wrong. You're still being dishonest. At no point did I feel that Rainbow Dash didn't deserve comeuppance. She almost got it by eating a disgusting pie, but is then interrupted by Pinkie, who was so touched by her attempt of redemption that she couldn't just let her eat that disgusting monstrosity.
This episode was a bit of a mixed bag. Pinkie's investigation and her Wicked Rainbow Dash interpretation were both enjoyable to watch.
And Applejack's question of what else Rainbow had been lying about, is one to ponder (she lied about loving books in Read it and Weep, so there's one).
Other then that, this episode was just... alright.
6/10 Okay
