My Non-Spoiler Review of the My Little Pony Movie · 7:43pm Oct 6th, 2017
The movie begins with a showcase of the Mane 6 as they are preparing for the Friendship Festival and on the eve of the event the forces of the Storm King arrive and bring the festivities to a complete halt.
The villains this time around are truly intimidating and rightfully scare the ponies into submission, The Storm Troopers towering over the ponies, with their apparent leader Tempest, a tall unicorn with a shattered horn, leading the invasion force.
When the movie began I was slightly taken aback at just how different the animation was from the flash cartoon and previous movies I had seen of the series but as the film moves forward I found myself growing more and more fond of it as the movie takes full advantage of this rounder and more energy filled animation with every scene, by the end of the movie making me realize how just fine and happy I'd be if they decided to switch the show over to the new animation style of the film.
The songs are all fantastic with special mentions to the opening " We've got this together", Rainbow Dash's " Dare to be Awesome", and Tempest's " Open up your Eyes" as an grand orchestral piece that truly defines her outlook on life.
So as to keep THIS POST free from spoilers I shan't go into much further details, see my full Review and Synopsis of the film later tonight for that, I'll leave y'all with my recommendation to go see this film if you're a fan of the show ( You'll get plenty of kicks at the side gags referencing jokes from the show and the cameos) or just animation in general, I HIGHLY recommend this film.
Have fun at the movies y'all.
Thank you for the lack of spoilers. I will not see it until my birthday next week. With only seeing Tempest so far, the "Open your eyes" song sounds like it will be pretty epic. I can't wait to see it.
From the trailer, I think the animation was actually a 3d style rendered in a mock 2d way. I'll have to see more of it though.
I think you'll greatly enjoy it. I've been seeing complaints regarding the Mane 6 acting out of character but concidering the harrowing events happening it is justified and excused in my opinion.

Is Season 7 needed to have an understanding of what is happening in the movie? I have not been able to catch up on it, I can't with my non-brony and unknowing-of-my-bronyness roommate in the room.
Not at all, Starlight Glimmer the only character from the later seasons only appears in cameos with Trixie, so the latest that you’ll have to have watched up to is up to when Twilight becomes an Alicorn and Princess of Friendship.
Outside of that as a fan of the show you’ll be fine, though newcomers to the movie should be fine without prior knowledge as well.
