Road to Jedi Lyra: Introducing a Familiar, yet Different Pony · 2:08am Jun 5th, 2017
I feel like I've gotten a lot better with my writing. The last two stories had received some praise and the last two chapters of Technological Wonders are much better than the prologue. I'm getting closer to my goal.
However, I have not done any planning for Jedi Lyra for quite some time. Despite the need to improve my writing, I need to make time for planning this story. Despite this, I will still talk about the main heroine: Lyra herself.
The fandom depicts Lyra to be a goofy extroverted mare that has an obsession with hands, humans and (from a certain point of view) Bon Bon's lover. In my story, you need to forget everything on what you know about this mare. She will be completely different from what the fandom depicts her.
Allow me to elaborate. In this story, Lyra is a Jedi. Throughout her entire career, she will be taught the ways of the Jedi and will follow "most" of their teachings. Let me go into this further by briefly mentioning the Jedi Code.
There is no Emotion, There is Peace
There is no Ignorance, There is Knowledge
There is no Passion, There is Serenity
There is no Chaos, There is Harmony
There is no Death, There is the Force
All Jedi Initiates are taught this code by the time they entered the Order. Lyra is no exception to this. She will follow this code along with numerous tenants in the Jedi Order. That is not to say she agrees with the Jedi Code entirely. Remember, she comes from a nation that thrived on harmony, friendship and seeking happiness. There will be times when the readers will see the Lyra they are familiar with, but only during emotional conflict. Her pony nature will kick in during her career and make her doubt that following the Code nor following the orders of the Jedi Council may not have all the answers she seeks.
I mentioned earlier that the story will be cut in two parts: Lyra's Jedi career and her return home. During Lyra's Jedi career, readers will experience a scared Lyra who is alone in an unfamiliar galaxy. There is very little she knows about the various worlds or aliens, but will find comfort studying in the Jedi archives and training with her Jedi Master Gizar Darran.
When Lyra returns home, her career as a Jedi made her a strong independent pony. She is more mature than the rest of the ponies in Ponyville. A war veteran that had plenty of experience fighting and saw the galaxy's worst. She still follows the Jedi Code and some tenants, but is no longer restricted by the Jedi Order or the Council. Ponies in town will find her personality odd. This will make her stand out as the weird pony in town, just like the Lyra everyone is familiar with.
I will end this discussion here. The story still needs more planning and I'm still figuring out what to do with Lyra. I'll probably get back to her again once I do more work. Hopefully this blog elaborated on what I'm trying to do with Lyra. Next week I will talk about the main conflicts of the story. I'm working on a new short story as well so look forward to that. Thank you all for your time.

Thank you for your comment. Yes I am aware of that. It is just that I don’t want to do an OC. I want to use Lyra. I won’t have Lyra as some emotionless pony and will not have her follow the code dogmatically like the Jedi of old. She will be a Jedi ahead of her time. I’ll see to it that when I write this story, it will be a Lyra that is familiar to everyone, but slightly more mature. Perhaps I should have elaborated more on Lyra. But the story is still going through some planning so things will change.
Unfortunately I have not read much of Luke’s New Order on the EU. I’m reading Aftermath right now. But as of now, I will have this story take place during KOTOR.
