I personally enjoyed this episode. Especially with how Becky Wangberg approached the ridiculous concept that fairy tales corresponds with reality. I swear, only children and fools believe such methodology actually happens.
I liked how Shady Oak approached the epsisode in his video, especially this line:
"there are worse things in this world than loneliness. You could be married to someone who does not love you."
This vindicates my decision to stay single as I approach my thirties.
Now to address the elephant in the room. Man. I will go on record and say that my favorite ship in MLP is Big Mac x Rainbow Dash. Applejack x Soarin are close second. You can thank Captain Unstoppable and Jake the Army guy for converting me to their religion.
I can accept that Hasbro has their shipping choice and I have my own. Agree to disagree and let's move on. This is in stark contrast to some of the other fans, particularly youtubers, who are moaning, shedding pitiful tears and crying foul for what they believe is a crime against the laws of shipping. Seriously, one of the girls kept screaming, "YOU BROKE THE RULES! YOU DON'T MESS WITH SHIPPING!" Jeez, that was annoying to hear.
All the same, I can't help but look on with sadistic glee as the fans cry and rage that their favorite Mac ships, including the queer and incest ones, have been sunk to the bottom of the ocean, where they will rot and collect algae for the rest of their existence.
Except for the MAC-DASH ship. That one has survived the bombardment and escaped to fight another day. LONG LIVE THE GREAT MAC-DASH SHIP! *shoots into the air in excitement and cheer.* x
All in all, today is a good day.
It might be a game changer, but it adds more to the story and kinda gives more value to "background" ponies, or to ponies and characters we haven't met before. Plus, it pulls us a little out of our comfort zone (such as the "ships" that people typically do) and tells us that the "background" ponies have real meaning for the main characters of the show, even if we don't se it that way.
I'm fine with it. I haven't even heard of the fandom blowing up over this but I can understand. That kind of sudden change may be a bit jarring to some, but on thing MLP has that other shows often don't is continuity, which is to say that prior episodes have meaning and the settings aren't just reset after every episode, like Spongebob or the Simpsons. The part where Big Mac yells, "NO LOVE POTION!" is proof of this, at least from my point of view (as well as being mildly funny).
And this change doesn't mean that people can't still ship Big Mac with any mare of their choosing. For all we know regarding future events, Big Mac and Sugar Belle will break up and the big guy will be up for grabs again. I hope this doesn't happen, because it seems like the two earnestly love one another, but I'm just putting it out here that fimfics don't have to be shut down just because of how an episode goes. Check out Changeling Space Program; the author dealt with the issue by simply portraying the season 6 finale as a bad dream for Chrysalis in a separate chapter to get around it.
Thanks for putting in the video. I haven't seen so much as two minutes of it yet, but intend to watch much more tomorrow or sometime. Thanks for putting it up again, and may God go with and bless you all

It won't be as bad as the others, but give it time.
I'm gonna have to check it out.
No problem.
