    Asking for Help

Someone very close to me, as well as a co-author on *Survivor's Guilt*'s sister's cat is in bad shape. He needs eye surgery badly, and they need to raise money. If anyone out there can help, please do.

    Your Turn to Roll

I'm not gonna spoil it, but if anyone that follows me is a fan of darker, more intense fantasy stories, check out the Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime. Season 1 finished today, and season 2 is gonna be awesome.

Fallout Equestria: And Hell Followed With Him Reviews: Chapter 1 · 8:57pm May 24th, 2017

Video Made by Me.

I didn't really do these two reviews in a row on purpose, but oh well.

Honestly, I was kinda hoping this fic would be farther along by the point I got to this review, but oh well, just means we'll all be caught up in the review department right away.

This fic is an interesting one that takes place pretty much right after the megaspells fell, what will happen? Well, lets see.

So lets begin Focait's And Hell Followed With Him.

---Chapter One: Departure---

The bombs came, like I knew they would.

I was ready. I’d been ready for years, at that point.

Even when Viridian left, took the kids, and told me to rot in Tartarus, I was ready. She’d never seemed to grasp what kind of danger we were in from those striped bastards.

Just meant I had four times as much supplies to myself when it happened, like I knew it would. Could have lasted four times as long.

So yeah, it seems that our main character is a bit of a survivalist who thinks the end of the world is coming... okay lets be fair that was pretty much true. He's not sure how long he's been in his bunker at this point because he apparently forgot to bring calendars... its always the things that you never expect.

It seems that the neighbors tried to get into the shelter of course since, well, he's the only one who thought to do this unless you're Stable-Tec, but he had to keep them out in order to avoid risking flooding the shelter. He does also regret that he had lost his family, shown by the three empty radiation suits in the shelter.

So, I'm gonna shock you guys... this is yet another example of a pony having to leave because of the Water Talisman, though I'll be fair this time its not in a Stable so I'll give the author points there. Apparently at this point the radiation outside is survivable (which makes you wonder how long its been), so he ventures out into the world above with his radsuit after enjoying one last meal in the shelter before heading out, having to push back the corpses of his neighbors.

Obviously he comes out under the cloud cover, and we get a look at the outside world:

Aside from my deceased neighbors, the neighborhood was surprisingly empty. Far from untouched, of course. The houses looked quite thoroughly looted — windows smashed, front doors bucked off their frames. Including mine, but, they’d have found very little. Maybe a few cans of pet food that I hadn’t bothered to throw out when Viridian took the dog, too.

I hadn’t expected much, and I was certainly no stranger to solitude, having spent the last however many years alone in a bunker built for four. I was somewhat disappointed that there was nopony in sight, but not surprised. I supposed it was just as well, for there was no guarantee that any of my neighbors would be quite as friendly as they had been when I last saw them. Or that Bells hadn’t done Equestria a favor and died in a ditch during the end of the world.

He knows that he needs to find water and a water talisman, but he also wants to find out what happened to his family, though water is more important (great priorities). He's struck by how empty the streets are as he goes past rotting corpses, commenting briefly on how they're preserved (Ghouls maybe?). He remembers that his wife said she was taking the foals to her parents' house and admits that there's not even any guarantee that they're still there.

Apparently the area wasn't well maintained before the war either because of the war effort. As he looks out beyond town he sees a green fog, and at the same time he could see the pink cloud that covered Canterlot. Its an ominous feeling and the language does a good job of showing how utterly desolate the area is:

It struck me how desolate the small suburban sprawl I lived in had become. I saw not a thing move in what of the town had not been fallen upon by the green fog. The land was almost completely silent, save for the low rumbling of thunder from the sky, and the winds that tore through the broken windows and walls of the houses around me. It had never been a particularly busy township, but to see nothing, hear nothing, and know that I had been the only one of over fifty thousand to survive was a sobering experience. And though I had known I would likely be in solitude when I departed my bunker, until that moment when I stopped to truly take in my surroundings the sheer amount of nothing those filthy animals had reduced us to hadn’t yet the chance to fully bear down upon me.

It was a hollow feeling, but if I were to say I shed tears over their loss I would be lying. The rest of the population had been afforded the same chance to prepare for this that I was, and only I had acted. It was the sweat of my brow that saved me, as the sweat of theirs could have saved them. Still, though, I wasn’t so cold (as Viridian had once accused me of being) that I didn’t feel a little bit of remorse. No matter how unprepared they may have been, it was still those mudcrawling stripes in the zebra empire who dropped the bombs that killed them.

You know I don't think this guy thinks highly of Zebras.

He briefly considers going back to the bunker and leaving behind his rifle (yeah that would be great idea), but he abandons the idea quickly enough. Looking around at the corpses he realized that there were a lot of bodies that hadn't been killed by the Megaspell, but by being shot or stabbed.

He found another pony named Jack who seemed to have prepared as well, but as he looked around he found a Ghoul that I believe to be a Glowing One and he shot it, but it exploded and bathed him in radiation. He wound up having to stab the Ghoul with his horn, a nasty prospect if you ask me, but the effects were terrible, forcing him to take off his gas mask and throw up.

He took out a RadAway and gulped it down with some water. He manages to get to his hooves and briefly considers going back to his bunker, but decides to keep going... and that's the end of the chapter.

---Final Thoughts---

Yeah, I have no idea what to say on the character so lets just get on with this.

Honestly, I'm not really sure what to say about this chapter. Its a pretty good start to the fic, and sets up a backstory and motivation for the main character who we don't even have a name for yet. This fic could use some more work but I'm sure it'll be expanded upon in later chapters, whenever they'll be released.

I do suggest this fic if you ever want to read it, but it needs to be updated.

Chapter 1 gets a score of 4/5.

Original Fanfic

Fallout: Equestria belongs to KKat.
Fallout Equestria: And Hell Followed With Him belongs to Focait.

On Sunday, its time for Forgotten Days, nothing else I can say really.
