[Rant] Where's my Sacred Stones remake? · 3:38am Mar 24th, 2017

If you ever asked me what my favorite video game was, I'd have several responses. For platforming games, Super Mario 64 is dear to my heart. For RPGs, Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger are tied. And for strategy games, I would absolutely have to go with the Fire Emblem series. Yes; as in the whole series.

But you probably wanted a more specific answer for that. While it's true I love the entire Fire Emblem franchise, which game is the one that takes the top? Fates has good combat and characters, but lacks a coherent or interesting story (I know I said all Fire Emblem games have flawed stories in some regard, but this game takes that shit-covered cake and throws it in a river filled with raw sewage and dead fish). Gaiden is still very fun to play but ultimately too outdated for our time, which I will forever thank Echoes for because I love Gaiden. The two Radiant games have interesting stories and great gameplay, but I've never played them before.

No, it's none of those. If you couldn't read the title or see the picture for that matter, first of all how did you get this far into reading this? But in all seriousness, my absolute favorite Fire Emblem game is Sacred Stones for the GBA.

Okay, let's get the big ass elephant in the room out of the way first: YES, this game has many, many flaws and problems that prevent it from being the greatest game ever. Many sprites are copied from FE7 who copied them from FE6, some characters are beyond forgettable, like Moulder, and the support system only allows characters to support with other units exactly 5 times. It is possible to exploit that last point, but it ain't easy. So is this game perfect? Absolutely not. But do I still love it? What the hell do you think?

With Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia coming out very soon (which I'm very excited for, BTW), this means that Intelligent Systems hasn't forgotten about its most prized gems yet! Which makes me happy that they aren't forgetting about their roots (except you, Jugdral chronicles, but I pray for you)! But at the same time makes me concerned. What if IntelSys only focuses on reviving the long-forgotten past and not the more recent one?

It's been proven again and again that IntelSys loves its early Fire Emblem games. They remade both Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light and Mystery of the Emblem and are currently remaking Gaiden, but those are all games from the NES/Famicom era. It would seem IntelSys only likes remaking the oldies. If this is true, we may never see a remake of Sacred Stones or any of the GBA games for that matter.

Though I'm not dense.

I understand fully that Intelligent Systems could be working their way up the ladder, starting from the Famicom games to the SNES games and eventually to the GBA games. Okay maybe not the SNES games because no one give a shit about them, but that still means before Sacred Stones they have to remake Binding Blade and Blazing Sword. People, especially fans of Sacred Stones such as myself, wouldn't appreciate having them come one-by-one if we had no interest in the other games.

Unless...

Okay, I know this has so far been a very selfish and whiny post, believe me I noticed. But there is one solution to our problems. The GBA games mostly have all the same sprites, right? So why not create a remake of all three games on the same card? It's been done before on the 3DS and the Wii, so I see no reason why Intelligent Systems can make it!

...Alright, I do want to explain why I want Sacred Stones to be remade. Besides the fact I have a massive and overbearing bias towards it that's bigger than my dick its so big, before Shadows of Valentia was announced it was clear to anyone that Sacred Stones was a much more popular game than Gaiden. Of course it wasn't as popular as our boy Roy or even literally the first FE game released outside Japan, but people still liked it! But now I feel as if its losing its popularity, which sucks because in my personal opinion it is the best of the three GBA Fire Emblem games. Yeah, I went there. Fight me.

I want there to be a remake so people can love the game once again, just like the good old days! I want to experience the story all over again so badly! I want to join Eirika and Ephraim in their incestuous adventures to stop the Grado Empire from destroying the sacred stones! I want to battle that cock salad of a wyvern knight Valter and actually tear his limbs off before shoving them up his ass! And most importantly...

...I WANT LUTE BACK!!!

Don't say this was a good blog, because it really wasn't. It was just a something-something-year-old high school student bitching about his favorite Fire Emblem game. Am I proud of this blog? No. But I want to make it clear to everyone that Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is my favorite Fire Emblem game and it should be remade so everyone can enjoy it more than Roy or Eliwood or whatever. Also Lute. I cannot get enough of Lute. And when Sacred Stones is remade, because it WILL be remade, you will understand this fact as well. Live the Lute, love the Lute. Lute is the best mage in the fucking series. GG git fukin rekt scrub 1v1 me.

(Lute has aspergers, so that's why I love her so much)

Anyway, that was my rant for the day. I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you all next time!

For RPGs, Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger are tied

This reminds me, but did you ever play Radiant Historia on the original DS? People say it's a mix between Chrono Trigger and Old School Final Fantasy in terms of storytelling and gameplay. It's getting a remake on 3DS actually, hence why I brought it up. But that's not the main point of this blog.:twilightblush:

But yeah, with Fire Emblem finally becoming a big name again in Modern Nintendo, it feels like the perfect time to remake the older games. Sacred Stones especially considering it's a fan favorite. Heck, they could probably give the Switch a few more games to play, or the 3DS to keep the system alive. All depends on what Ninty and Inti decide of course.:derpyderp2:

...I WANT LUTE BACK!!!

I'd love an SS remake too, but that's not how you spell L'Arachel tho. :trollestia:

I've heard of Radiant Historia, but I've never gotten around to playing it. If it's getting a remake on the 3DS then I might look into it, but I dunno. I do know the music is done by Yoko Shimomura, though!

Honestly the best thing to do in terms of remaking the GBA games would be to make a bundle game of all three games together due to each having similarities. I'd probably ignore Binding Blade and Blazing Sword to play Sacred Stones up the ass, but that's still three games for the price of one! That's a great deal!

If only Nintendo weren't so greedy, eh?

How dare you. Lute could kick L'Arachel's ass with that 60% magic stat increase chance.

4470669 Jokes aside, I won't deny Lute hits like a truck, but that's IF she hits. I love her as a Sage, but L'Arachel's got more balanced stats and growths overall with superior Skill, Luck, and Resistance; especially that last one since she can cap it at 28 in both promotions. L'Arachel is never a bad choice, but Lute is more prone to being screwed in her aim and dodge ability if the RNGodess doesn't smile on you(or you waste the Secret Books on lesser beings).

I'm pumped to try it myself as well finally. I don't usually pre-order, but I may just do it for a remake of a game that's so hard to find nowadays. Plus, if Shimomura is doing the music? Then that is an insta buy.:pinkiehappy:.

That is indeed a great deal! Which is likely why it'll never happen. I mean, I get how pricy remakes can be sometimes from a graphical perspective. But I hardly doubt it would cost them THAT much, right? Then again, I'm no programmer myself, I fully admit that.

Meanwhile, Lute in my restarted game just plowed through Ephraim's Chapter 9.
She also supported Kyle. I'll kill him later.

But I do get what you're saying. But can we agree Natasha is best healer?

Shimamura did the music for the DS one, I don't actually know if she's coming back to redo the music on the 3DS remake. And by Jeebus, Kirito, you're a bigger RPG nerd than me! I just wanna play FF, CT and FE, not these demon-catching games! What kind of RPG is that where you capture and enslave demons to help you battle? Sounds pretty dumb.

I got the Metroid Prime Trilogy for 30 bucks on the E-shop, so it can't be that pricey, right? That's IF it comes out though.

Heh... I made a Fire Emblem joke in that last sentence. See if you can find it.

4471003
I imagine she would be, but it may not be. We only have first details, so we'll be finding out soon. And man your right. I suppose any game which involves you running around the world capturing virtual creatures and forcing them to fight for you sounds pretty dumb. :rainbowkiss::raritywink: (all joking aside, I totally getcha.)

Huh, that's actually a pretty great deal. I wonder if the Switch E-Shop has Prime Trilogy yet. :trollestia:

IF was the Japanese name for Fates.

4471001 A lot better than Moulder at least. That, and she gets a pretty good life hooking up with Joshua in the end.
