Kamen Rider: Equestria Update (The More Things Change...)

First off, I have fan art.Some one other than me looked at that story and wanted to make something based on it. How amazing is that? Check it! This isn't exactly how I pictured it, but in a of of ways it's a improvement over my own vision. I draw your attention to the new belt that Cavaliere created, as well as the improved helmet.

Secondly, I feel the need to be honest about something: Kamen Rider: Equestria isn't going to continue in its current form. It was never really meant to be a full story on its own, I always pictured it as the prose equivalent of test footage. I wanted to see if I could write super heroic action, make monsters threatening, be mysterious without being annoying, and create likeable charator interaction. I'm still a little proud of Sarah and Grace's scene. It's far from perfect, but it was sweet. I never stopped working on the Tokukatsu story, but it's slowly gone from a Kamen Rider story in the Power Rangers universe to a straight-up Power Rangers story.

The way I write, it's... like these stories are real, happening somewhere, and as I work on the story, it starts off as something I made up and slowly begins to match the 'real' version and less what I originally pictured. Even though most of the story has changed from the basic concept, it's still the same story. And I want to be clear: I'm posting this bloody thing.

...I mean, I get that most of you didn't notice, or don't care, but I started this nearly a year ago, and I really want to get done at some point. So I'm setting a release date. March 19. One year from where it began. I realize that I originally set a release date in June of last year, but it was a different story at that time, and I'm starting to figure out what I'm doing now. Moreover, now I have a team helping me get this story ready. That's right ya'll, I have the magic of friendship on my side. Procrastination is goin' down. I hope.

Now, the much more fully formed story will be called The More Things Change... and will feature human!Pinkie Pie as the main charator. Next week I'm going to try and figure out how to create the prose equivalent of a movie trailer for your consideration. There are a few specific goals I have for this series, because Power Rangers screws them up so consistently. I want:

1) A villain that's complicated and hard to predict.
2) Monsters that are relatively scary.
3) A larger, more epic feel.
4) An overarching plot that keeps you guessing.

Of course, all of those require investment, so in order to accomplish any of these things I'll need to master the art of perseverance, one of my biggest problems. Creating any kind of big story with a big plot requires a lot of investment, and I'll be working on this series for a long time. Honestly, I'll just be happy when I've posted the first story. It's... it's a little more than halfway done, but I don't have to re-write the beginning anymore and it's only a couple chapters long anyway. I think I can do this. It's really weird, being slow close to completing a project like this. The only other artist project I've completed without directions was a cardboard riot shield that worked like a dream. Seriously, that thing was awesome.

On my other front, I'm squeezing this blog in under the deadline by about two minutes, but still; it's started. I've hit the ground running. I'm feeling optimistic.
