As of January 15, former professional wrestler Jimmy Snuka passed away from stomach cancer. An iconic figure in the world of professional wrestling, his passing impacts not just his family, but the entire wrestling industry.
An AWA Midwest Heavyweight champion, WWWA Heavyweight champion, WWWA Intercontinental champion, NCW Tag Team champion (with Johnny Gunn), the inaugural ECW champion (a title which he held twice), and that only scratches the surface of his accomplishments. The pioneer of the high-flying style of wrestling (a personal favorite of mine), there are few wrestlers more deserving of a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame than Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka.
Rest in Peace, The Phenom Jimmy Snuka.
I didn't post it in the main blog, but it bears mentioning that Jimmy Snuka was a suspect in the murder of his then-girlfriend in '83. The case qent cold, and charges were dropped just a few days prior to his death. Whether you believe him guilty or innocent, it doesn't take away from his greatness in the ring.
