I'm sure most of you are familiar with the famous song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot, an easily recognizable tune telling the story of a tragic event on Lake Superior on November 10th, 1975.
Fun Fact of the Week: 6 years ago, Gordon Lightfoot made a change to one of the song's lines, more specifically, the line, "At 7 P.M., a main hatchway caved in, he said, 'Fellas, it's been good to know 'ya!'" Today, in place of, "...A main hatchway caved in..." Lightfoot now sings, "...It grew dark, it was then..." This was due to new findings that suggested that the sinking of the ill-fated ship was not caused by crew error, but by the monstrous waves that rocked Lake Superior that night.
While Lightfoot never made this official change to the copyrighted lyrics, he recites the modified lyrics every time he performs the song.
