Research Help Wanted

I'm starting a new story and I'll be needing some help with some research on how government agencies, the scientific community, and the population will react to a certain scenario. The scenario is what would happen if a landmass the size of Australia with a few islands surrounding it were to suddenly appear in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. Obviously with this site being related to MLP:FIM, that this landmass would be Equestria and its surrounding nations. Here's a little of the backstory for this piece: Equestria was originally located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for it was the 8th continent. Discord, the Lord of Chaos, decided to separate the continent and the few islands around it from the rest of world just before the first humans had evolved somewhere around three million years ago. At the time Equestria was in an area with an unusually high concentration of magic. During this period the races mentioned above except the human ancestor was living in the area and were starting to signs of intelligence and an aptitude for magic. Given Discord’s nature, he created a pocket dimension to play with these races to see what they will become. Discord forgot that he did such a thing because of the nature of the barrier he created prevents anyone from remembering the outside world.
It's this barrier that weakens and eventually collapse after three million years of existence. It’ll take about a month for the barrier to collapse, during which the weather and ocean currents will change as if there is a landmass in the way. There will also be a energy signature that will grow at an exponential rate until the final collapse, that's when the energy signature will nearly disappear completely.
This story was inspired by Widening the Lense and will be named in a similar fashion.
