I've just started reading George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series, starting with A Game of Thrones. Today, actually.

Today's is one from Ned Stark, the Lord of Winterfell:

They say it grows so cold up here in winter that a man's laughter freezes in his throat and chokes him to death. Perhaps that is why the Starks have so little humor.
