POKEMON AUGUST UPDATE!!! (Part 3) · 9:23pm Aug 19th, 2016
Wow, GameFreak is just throwing out the new Pokemon for Sun and Moon. Not saying that's a bad thing, just... eh, whatever. Well, let's take a look and see what they have this time!
Turtonator
Type: Fire/Dragon
Class: Blast Turtle Pokemon
Ability: Shell Armor
Analysis:
This Pokemon I mentioned in my last blog, but I never really got around to talking about it. I also hinted at how it may or may not be a T-800 Terminator from the future. But I digress. Anyway, Turtonator is the first non-mega Fire/Dragon-type Pokemon, and honestly I think it's about time too. Mega Charizard X is cool and all but having a Pokemon that already has that typing and doesn't need a hold item to get it is actually really cool! Its design is pretty badass as well, and I can see some competitive use out of it. How? Its ability is Shell Armor; pretty basic stuff. So it can't get critical hits, who cares?! Well, it also has a new move called Shell Trap, in which if something physically hits it the damage is returned to the attacker for twice the damage! And since critical hits are non-existent for Turtonator, and seeing how it'll probably have a lot of defense, I'm already thinking of how to use this thing expertly.
Crabrawler
Type: Fighting
Class:Rocky PokemonBoxer Pokemon
Ability: Hyper Cutter/Iron Fist
Analysis:It's a Sylvester Stallone Pokemon. Need I say more? Yeah? Well, I guess I can say that I really appreciate its design to look almost exactly like Rocky from the Rocky movies. I mean, for fuck's sake it even has Sylvester's half-squinted left eye. You can't look at me and say that GameFreak didn't watch all the Rocky movies back-to-back over the course of a month. I can only imagine all the memes this Pokemon will create if a fan of the Rocky movies who also happens to be a fan of Pokemon and a semi-decent artist gets a hold of this idea. You'll see around tumblr soon enough, I can guarantee it.
Sandygast
Type: Ghost/Ground
Class: Sand Heap Pokemon
Ability: Water Compaction
Analysis:
Has GameFreak run out of ideas?! No, they haven't. Honestly I get upset whenever someone says that without joking around about it. There are many, MANY things GameFreak can use to make new Pokemon; tons of different kinds of animals and inanimate objects. Apparently, piles of sand are included in that group. I actually think this thing is kinda cute, even if the name is a little "eh". But if you thought that Water-type Pokemon could easily deal with this little shit, you guessed wrong. Other Ground-type Pokemon would fear water because of their weakness to it, but what happens when you combine water with sand? If you're any person above the age of 5, you'd be able to correctly guess that sand becomes more compact and harder than regular sand, which is exactly the case with Sandygast's new ability Water Compaction. Every time its hit by a Water-type move, its defense goes up by a whopping TWO STAGES! Holy hell! Better not bring any physical Water-type Pokemon there guys! Like Floatzel. Or Sharpedo.
Palossand
Type: Ghost/Ground
Class: Sand Castle Pokemon
Ability: Water Compaction
Analysis:
Sand castle Pokemon is best Ground-type Pokemon. Seriously, I am in love with this design! Sure it may not be what many people expected, but who really gives a shit about that when you have a 4 foot 3 sand castle Pokemon. IT'S A SAND CASTLE POKEMON!!! How could you NOT like it?! In all seriousness though, this thing is awesome and I want it on my team. It too has the ability Water Compaction so there really isn't much else to say about it besides "holy shit I want one on my team", but with it comes a horrifying picture of it eating a Pikachu. No, for fucking real:
Stufful
Type: Normal/Fighting
Class: Flailing Pokemon
Ability: Fluffy/Klutz
Analysis:
And last but not least is the second Pokemon I heard my sister squeal in my ear when she saw it (the first being Alolan Raichu), Stufful! Stufful is the prevolution of Bewear, and also happens to be a stuffed animal Pokemon. Originally I wasn't too fond of the way it looked, but it really has grown on me now that I have a good look at it. We already talked about Fluffy and how it's a non-mega Normal/Fighting-type, but I love its Pokedex entry on how it's a stuffed animal but it hates being hugged, in which if it is it'll start flailing its arms around. That's just fucking adorable. Oh, and I also love the little stuffed animal tag on its butt.

All these new Pokemon are super good and have some real game-breaking abilities if used correctly. Well, actually you're not far off. Palossand sucks the life force from smaller Pokemon and leaves behind an essence of their hatred which is believed to eventually be absorbed into the sand and become a Sandygast.
