So I happened to have checked my profile today, only to discover that I have finally acquired over 100 followers here on FiMFiction. Granted, I had been checking several times over the last few days...and had noticed my follower count creeping up there anyway...but still it's quite the discovery.
All I have to say is: Wow. If you had asked me if I would ever become popular writing romantic fiction involving children's cartoon characters, I would have scoffed at the idea and thought something was wrong with you. Who knew how quickly that opinion would turn around?
My time as a brony and a fanfic writer has certainly been an interesting one. I never would have expected the community for sensual stories (read: Not straight-up clopfics) would be so strong and so welcoming to newcomers. I still remember actually going into the bathroom one Summer day, looking into the mirror and asking if I was truly capable and depraved enough to be able to write something that could compare with the likes of Crowley and Coffeebean. I certainly remember times where I was preoccupied with thinking up fic ideas in my head while I was doing something with close friends and family members. Probably not the best place to think up stuff like that, but creativity often strikes at the weirdest moments.
I think what interests me the most is how I've grown as a writer. When I was writing A Story in All of Us, I had tried my hardest to avoid making the same rookie mistakes that many an aspiring fanfic author makes - poor grammar, questionable characterization, clunky dialogue, the works. Nowadays, I'm sort of embarrassed at all the glaring things I've found in it now that I have a few more fics under my belt. They might not be huge to you guys, but they stick out like a sore thumb to me. Maybe I'll start to think the same way for my more recent works once more time has passed as well, and then the whole cycle will start over again.
But I digress. I guess what I'm trying to say is that without the support of the SFG and fans like you guys, I never would have discovered all the fun that can be had writing sensual (and no-so-sensual in the case of Good Clean Fun) stories, so I say Thank You. It's been a real fun experience, and I'm hoping that the fun times will last...FOREVER!
One last thing: I might (Key word there) have my newest fic finished up by the end of next weekend. It might come sooner, it might come later, I can't say for certain. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for some big info about it this week. I have a setting that I don't think has quite been done before in Pony fanfic history, and I'm hoping it ends up being a compelling.
