My Current Projects

So, in yesterday's blog I had mentioned I have been doing a ton of stuff all at once. I would like to write an official post detailing the specifics. Please keep in mind this one will probably be long, so if you aren't interested in technical stuff then don't keep reading. I will try to keep the more interesting stuff at the top.

So, to get started I will mention my YouTube account, which is the only thing I can think of that actually affects anyone else. You can view my channel here. As of late I have finally begun to upload videos fairly regularly, I try for one a day but it is likely that goal will falter often. My current projects there revolve around an old Nintendo game, Super Metroid, and currently feature a playthrough of the entire thing. I am still working on that but I will definitely keep going. I have two more videos of that to upload. On top of that, I have been recording Minecraft videos, albeit not as much, and uploading those. Currently there is only one that I have uploaded and another video that will be posted live because I didn't complete the map. It is a rage video on how terrible some custom maps are. The videos that I upload of Super Metroid are live videos, I do not edit them more than cutting each end and beginning. Minecraft, on the other hand, does get minor edits, mostly me just cutting out section where little is done. Once I complete Super Metroid I will begin filming both randomised Super Metroid ROMs and Super Metroid hacks. I am hoping to get to that soon as I do have a line up already. As for Minecraft, I did leave a question in the videos on whether or not you want to see a playthrough of The Ferret Business modpack. I will not go into details of it here, but I do with to have some answers on who wants to see me do a modpack playthrough of Minecraft. I do plan on releasing a playthrough with a different modpack eventually, but it is currently unplanned and not ready at all.

Next up, I have my game development work. This doesn't constitute programming as I am not programming it per se. I am using a software to develop a text adventure. This project is not even a week old but I already have some great plans for it. As it is, I don't wish to spoil the story or plot so I won't say much on it. I will say that I have done some work already and am trying to get it cleaned up. There are some features that are a pain to work with, like giving exits descriptions, and so it has thrown me off of wanting to work on it. I will get it worked on, though. This project doesn't have much to talk about, primarily due to the surprise plot.

The next project I have been working on is programming related. I have been developing the user interface for a user database in C++ and finally got it to a usable state. Unfortunately, I develop on Linux so it doesn't work for Windows users. The main problem comes in with the fact that programming on Windows is bullshit. So, I have spent a week working on trying to get it to run on other computers while I only compile it once. So far it has been a failure. I'm not really feeling up to explaining this further because it goes into very specific programming talk. Any programmers in the comments may help me out, though!

I realise I said I had a lot to deal with, but honestly... This doesn't seem like much. I admit, I have problems juggling tasks and tend to jump around with things. There are a few other projects I have taken on but haven't started. I will only talk about one of them as the other one I have little knowledge on.

So, as I mentioned above with Super Metroid hacks, I have decided I want to make my own. The story to it matches the story to my text adventure, they are pretty much the same, and so it should be fun to work with. As it is, I haven't really learnt the tools I need to use, I haven't installed the tools, and I have not even prepared to work. So, this project has plans but currently no action. I will hopefully get to it soon.
