I was thinking last night about those stories that show Equestria being Earth in the far future, After Mankind was wiped out by some type of Cataclysm. But I soon had a strange thought, one that was just as shocking as the idea of Equestria being a Post-Apocalyptic Earth..........

What if Equestria is not from Earth's Far Future, but it's Far Past?

Yep, what if Equestria was in fact The Continent of North America back sometime between the Pliocene and Pleistocene Epochs. As North America is where horses first came around, It would be logical that Equestria is a Prehistoric North America, before humans came to the New World.
