My "The Crystalling" two-part-episode's review

Finally, SEASON 6 IT’S HERE!

Since I saw that Cadance and Shining’s foal would be born in the premiere, I get’s super duper excited! Furthermore, we would also see the reunion between Starlight and Sunburst and also her first friendship lesson.

It all starts in Twilight’s castle, where Starlight, whose new mane style is awesome by the way, is searching for the library. I have to agree with her, the castle looks smaller from the outside. It was funny when she, by mistake, open the door of the bathroom where Spike is washing his teeth, even more when Starlight got to know that the door to the library is the next one. That’s a very recurring gag. Finally, in library, we can see Twilight’s meticulousness in finding the first friendship lesson to Starlight in action. I have to say, sometimes Twilight is very exaggerating. Her excitement, although understandable because Starlight is Twiligth’s first student, is visibly causing Starlight become nervous and scared, what is also conjugating with her regret over what she did.

After credits, we focus on the next event that will occur in the Crystal Empire: Shining Armore and Cadance’s foal’s Crystalling. They discuss about what the Crystalling is all about, as the Crystal Empire was gone for a millennia and some of its traditions are still not-well known. We have a funny moment of Spike bragging about what he did in the Crystal Empire, but then he explains all about the Crystalling and we get to know more about the Crystal Heart.

We return to the library, where Twilight reveals to Starlight that she reduced the number of possible friendship lessons and that one of them is at the Crystal Empire. Although Starlight at first gets happy to know that, her smile disappear when Twilight reveals to her that that lesson is Sunburst, Starlight’s first friend. That obviously upsets Starlight in a way that she stops listening Twilight, what she tries to hide behind her fake smile.

In this episode, we get to see Spike is able to get along Starlight very well, in a way that he helps her in reconnecting with Sunburst. Although he tries to follow Twilight’s list to help Starlight, we can see that he tries his best to help Starlight. When I saw Sunburst, I remembered when Twilight met with Moon Dancer and I also suspected there was something odd with Sunburst. I quickly realized he was not being truthful with Starlight about being a wizard. I have to tell when Spike suggested to Starlight and Sunburst to share some embarrassing moments of them or something they regret to break the ice, that was exactly what they needed, as it was when Sunburst confessed he was not a wizard and when Starlight told him about his past that they were able to reconnect.

And then there was the new foal. Although it was not surprise that she would be an alicorn, we could get to know that she is the first pony to born as an alicorn in Equestria ever. That can mean that Celestia and Luna didn’t born as alicorns and that worked for their wings, like Twilight and Cadance (whose case was the horn). That scene when the baby sneezes and unleash a powerful blast was hilarious! I even said “bless you”. And then there was all that scenes about taking care of the baby. It was the best part! Mainly when she started teleport to everywhere. We could see that Flurry Heart can attach easily with ponies, as she started cry when she was separated from Pinkie Pie. Well, what can we say? Babies love Pinkie Pie.

Also the scenes with Shining Armor were also very funny. It seems that, between him and Cadance, he was the most affected with the baby’s birth. I couldn’t stop laughing when he started to panic all over the preparations of the Crystalling.

Even if in this premiere there wasn’t any villain, all the plot was very good. It made me remember the season four premiere, where Everfree Forest started to invade, although this was caused indirectly by Discord. I also noticed that Crystal Empire is based from the Ancient Greece, due the vase Spike uses to explain the Crystalling and the crystalline coats, although I should have seen this in season 3 premiere.
I love this two episodes! I just hope all the other episodes of season 6 are just like them.
