Teacher: "You, with the purple shoes!"
*Everyone looks down at their shoes*
Friend: "Yes?"
Teacher: "Why would you climb a tree?"
Friend: "Why would I not climb a tree?"
It went on. I was just milling around awkwardly, feeling secondhand embarrassment. My friend wasn't trying to be rude. There's no written rule that says "no climbing trees", and if there was, my friend didn't see a point to it. The conversation went on, with the teacher saying, "Excuse me, are you talking to me?". And while I feel, yeah, it comes off as a bit rude, my friend was just being honest, and answering the question she was asked.
I'm not sure what answer the teacher was expecting there. You don't ask the question if you don't want the answer.
Seriously, the lady's face when she was climbing the tree was hilarious.
