    Don't delete me!

Well, starting in June, I'll be taking a massive break. Depending on how things go, this could be for a year or more. I will be coming back, though. Far too much that I still want to read; not to mention possibly getting into the editing business. So if there is ever a "remove all 'dead' accounts" movement, please note I will return! Just need to set a lot of stuff in order first.

I really just need to write this down somewhere, so here it is. This is something that really frustrates me whenever I see it:

This may be just me, but I can't stand when authors break up their stories into separate posts in order to isolate any grim-dark / clop / Barbra Streisand / whatever. As a reader, I like to have the entire story right there, all in one place. I'm not too fond of jumping back and forth between story posts just to read one fic. But that's just my own bit of picky/whiny crap.

I really don't understand how any author could so readily rip apart his/her work like that. If you are going to write something, you should take pride in it. If you want to write it, then write it. We, the readers, are (should be) responsible enough to know what we want and don't want to read; and can readily skip ahead if/when necessary. If it's a subject you feel so uncomfortable writing that you need to isolate it, then maybe you shouldn't be writing it at all. If you don't like writing mature scenes, then simply don't write them. If you're just fine writing mature scenes, then have some pride in your work (and a bit of trust in your audience) and put it where it belongs in your story.

I feel ya. I myself love my clop scenes (cause Nightmare knows I love my clop), so nopony will ever see my stuff separated. Unless you count double chapters for the assistance of readers that don't like clop. Not the same thing though.

Actually, I like and encourage the way you've set up your stories. (clop and clop-lite) It's a format that offers both options to the readers without breaking continuity, and has proven its effectiveness every time I've seen an author use it.

Also, why am I not watching you?!:twilightoops:

EDIT: Fixed!

While I am slightly annoyed that you apparently didn't read the actual post, I am glad to see that you agree with it. I'm not seeing this strictness you mentioned, though. There are so many stories out there where the author has made two separate story posts (main story/clop portions), and more will probably pop up in the future. If there is a rule about this somewhere, it's not being enforced.
