So out of curiosity, I tried making a few of the changes the EQD reviewer suggested. Just for chapter 1. They worked. In fact, they worked so well that I decided to go ahead and remaster this whole thing. What does that mean?
It means I'm revoking Shine's submission while I give the thing an overhaul.
Rose: What?! You can't do that. What about all the success you've already had? Don't you just want to quit while you're ahead?
That would be the smart thing to do. After all, my readers might think that any changes I make are worse. But after reading the suggestions the EQD guy made, I've realized that I can do better. I will accept the risk for a better reward. Besides, It's not like I'm deleting the story entirely. It will still be there, just invisible.
Rose: But what about the Shineverse? From a Sparkle to a Spark hinges on how Shine is written NOW. If you change the first story, then you might damage the second one.
I have considered the possibility. But it's not like I haven't made radical alterations before. Remember, I shot FOUR chapters of Spark down the drain when I realized they weren't working. This is just one step further than that.
Rose: But people will miss it.
I'm sure they will. But hopefully they can be patient until the new Shine is ready.
Rose: Are you really that desperate to get on EQD?
No. I'm not doing this just to get on EQD. If that was the only reason, then Cryosite was right about me all along. I'm doing this for myself. My whole goal when I become Infernity Zero was to improve my writing. So that one day I can write an publish an entire novel. But in order to do so, I have to keep pushing myself to my limits. EQD's just an added bonus. I saw the critique, and I know I can do better.
SO I WILL.
Rose: But you...all right. I won't stop you. But I'll miss the old Shine.
I will too. I've seen some authors that refuse to update their old works so they can use them as stepping stones for their careers. While I myself am not like that, I can understand the sentiment. Each comment and like has its own memory behind it. Some good, some bad, but all are special. So before I go under, let me just say this.
Thanks guys and see you soon.
Zero Out.
Good luck, I'll be waiting to hear back from you.
