“Oh!” squeaked Fluttershy. “It’s you!” She turned to call behind her, “It’s Rainbow Dash! Not her!”
Rainbow blinked in surprise as the news got two zebra yays, quite plain to hear.
Fluttershy turned again. “Thank goodness you’re here! I’m kind of tired and sore, and we’re doing our best but it just, I, um… Rainbow Dash, could you do me a teensy weensy favor and borrow one of my zebras?”
Dash boggled at her.
“Just to have sex with,” added Fluttershy primly, “not to keep, you know.”
So, I'm about 2500 words into the next Precious chapter. But wait, there's more!
Why is this car smiling? Because my mechanic turned around and FIXED it. Broken leg? No problem! Barry (this mechanic) is best pony. I asked my friend Shana what she thought it cost. She guessed $800, because I was so thrilled. Nope! $550. Which is still a big deal and a nasty burden, but I could and did pay that myself.
I'm also thrilled about rediscovering gluten. Who knew the increasingly desperate attempts to avoid depression were just bandaids over basic life choices I was making that I couldn't really deal with? I'm still in the middle of the upheavals around that, but I am feeling brave and I'm ready to kick hell out of the problem like Applejack until it yields. I will NOT give up. Heck, last night I was working on something until 4:30 in the morning, half an hour after I used to get UP, to get it done to my satisfaction.
But it wasn't pony stories: it was this: Counterpart: Made With Unity
Yeah, I'm still crunching on this game! Now it has big freaky enemies to keep you from running over bots. The sheer amount of graphic-design stuff I had to do to properly get on that site was amazing: all this screenshot-making, plus I wanted a current video for it, and I needed to set up the chromakey studio idea I'd had and get it looking better than it used to the last time I tried to do that. And I did all of it, and I'm going to bring Counterpart to Steam plus add a soundtrack to it that's cool (spent hours practicing music-making in Renoise toward that purpose) and get in gear to do this kind of stuff more.
Meanwhile, I only got 2500 words or so written all week. And I know some folks don't write long chapters but that's not done, not for a Trixieverse book much less Precious. So all I can do is say this: I have obligations to take this resurrected car and drive down to Methuen, MA tomorrow to visit family, some of whom are upset with me over side-effects of all this recent chaos. Also, it's the Legends Of Equestria open server weekend. That's another video games. With ponies. Made in Unity. Hmmm, wonder who else is getting good at working in Unity making games?
And I'm pleased, even kinda triumphant at all this (and thrilled that I was able to pick up eating gluten like I'd never stopped: my God, I used to make my own sourdough crusts for pizzas and my own bread! This is a huge deal). But I'm also very worn out and tired, to the point where I just couldn't get the kind of momentum on Precious that I wanted.
So you've got a little glimpse of what will be happening in the chapter (and it ought to be adorable, and I can tell you Dash's main requirement is that Applejack also gets to play later or no deal, and this won't pose a problem: what do you expect from two pegasi negotiating consensual bodysex?) but the actual chapter gets stalled another week. I don't think that can happen forever, because I DID get 2500 words by Friday, but it's not going to be a weekend I can write thousands of words during. I think the days of never missing an update are past me, and it's now about finishing the Trixieverse series off, for-reals, the way I think it should be finished. Back to the original relationships and connections, with growth and wisdom and hard lessons learned… and with love.
Better to do that properly than to rush it, as I won't be doing it again (I can't continue to write: I can't afford to). So the chapters will continue when they are ready.
Also, have a kitten. (this is Mags. She wants to be in a fighting game. Kinda like what Fighting Is Magic was to be, but technically more interesting. You can use similar principles as what pony animation uses, to make composite sprites in Unity and animate those. It can be done…)
Love ya pones, and I guess some of the folks reading through and progressing from book to book will be more likely to catch up. Anyone else, I might suggest starting from Best Ride Ever again. I'll certainly be updating repeatedly by the time you finish, even if I might not have finished Precious. And who wants that ever to end?
Yay!
