Brainstorming Shineverse ideas again. I have quite a few of them planned. I'm even considering putting MYSELF in the world as one of the characters. But that's another blog. Right now, I'm trying to narrow down powersets for magic.
In Equestria, ponies have a high level of magic used for the they have their cutie mark in. Rarity's good a finding gems, Trixie's good at performing, Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon etc. Wildcards like Twilight, Sunset, and presumably Starlight are the exception to the rule, able to learn every kind of magic there is. Jack of All Trades and Master of None.
When it comes to Humans, I wanted to find a way to make their magic different from the Equestrians. Partly because I wanted to show how different Equestria is from Earth, partly because I wanted to leave the door open for some Human/Pony conflict potential, and partly because I wanted to branch the humans away from Equestria to stand on their own feet. Especially since the idea of destiny isn't as prominent for people.
So while thinking up ways to make up Human OC's with magic, I happened to come upon this idea;
What would you guys think of a character who can't generate any magic of his/her own but who can copy any magic he/she's witnessed?
So... a Blue Mage kind of character? Sounds pretty cool. Kinda reminds me of Taskmaster from the Marvel Universe, too.
