The Lost Fics: Model Behavior

This one is going to be in a slightly different format. You see, the previous fics that I blogged about, "Back to School" and "Don't Come Close", were taken from my unpublished queue on fimfic, but this story is actually from my drive/gdocs.

Which means that I don't have a prepared fimfic summary/synopsis to copy from. In addition, rather than just a fic with gaps in the story that I haven't written out, this is actually written entirely in summary form with dialogue included.

Background info

Regardless, this fic is for the most part a ponified Zoolander. Well to be more precise, it was my attempt at

"What if MLP made a satire of Zoolander?"

It's not a scene-for-scene remake but with ponies, but a re-imagining of the movie into the MLP show. Does that make any sense? Ah, tomato tomato. So with that said, with Fluttershy as faux-Zoolander and Fleurs-de-Lis as faux-Hansel, would this have been a well received fic if completed and published?

Meh, probably not.

“The pomp! The glamor! Oh, isn’t it all delightful, darling?”

“Um...yeah,” Fluttershy agreed comfortingly. “It sure is.”

the story starts with Fluttershy and Rarity at a fashion awards show along with Fancy Pants and his wife, Fleur-de-lis. Fluttershy is very nervous having to wear a fancy gown along with an auditorium full of other fancy looking ponies that she’s afraid will judge her. Rarity assures Fluttershy that that won’t happen, while being extremely giddy at being at the Canterlot Fashion Awards Show. Fancy Pants is happy for his wife’s newfound “hobby” in modeling.

The show starts off and the awards are going on. Rarity exclaims at each of the ponies that are supposed to be puns of real fashion people. Then the nominees for model of the year award is announced, Fleur-de-Lis is included in the list, though Fluttershy ends up winning.

“Wait, what?!” Fluttershy quivered. “B-b-b-b-b-but how can that be?! I wasn’t even nominated...was I?”

However, Fleur-de-Lis doesn’t realize this and she walks up to the stage and gives her acceptance speech, not noticing at first the huge portraits of Fluttershy that were unfurled from the ceiling. Embarrassed, she rushes off the stage as attention then turns to Fluttershy and a spotlight shines on what ends up to be an empty seat next to Rarity. Then the light finds Fluttershy trying to sneak away up the aisle and everypony starts swarming her, congratulating her. Rarity rushes in to the rescue and hurries Fluttershy through the crowd.

Outside of the auditorium, a voice shouts out after Rarity and something pulls at her tail that causes her to trip. Fluttershy and Rarity then see Fleur-de-Lis followed by another unicorn and the other unicorn is wondering what Rarity is doing ponynapping Fluttershy in a haughty manner. Fleur-de-Lis introducers Glamorous as her manager and sheepishly congratulates Fluttershy. Remembering Glam from their time at Mademoiselle La Cheval’s fashion school Rarity blurts out that she’s Fluttershy’s manager.

“You are?” The unicorn blinked in surprise.

“You are?” Fluttershy asked, stricken with confusion.

“Why of course!”

Then two griffons appear, one very large and one smaller and wearing a bow tie. The big one, wearing a crown, is King Pyotr of the Griffons who is an ecstatic fan of Fluttershy’s.

“It is good that the Flootershai is returns to the modeling, yes?”

“Very good.” Georg, the King’s attendant nodded.

“I am having fashion show and I want you to be there.” The large griffon continued. “Great honor for me to have the Flootershai is beings there.”

“Great honor, yes.”

“Um...” Fluttershy gulped, ears pinned low. “That’s very kind of you to ask, your highness, but...”

“Ask?” The griffon’s eyes lit up in glee and he let out a loud squawk of a laugh. “This is not an askings, adorable pony!”

“His highness does not do the askings, no.”

“All is expected to be attending to Grand Griffon Show, adorable Flootershai. Except for dirty Diamond Dogs! I spit at those mangy mutts!”

Suddenly, Georg spat on the ground in place of the king.

“Eww...” Rarity managed under her breath. “Um, as Fluttershy’ manager I assure you we’ll be in attendance, your highness.”

“Good! Good! Very Good!”

“Good, yes.”

The griffons fly off after Pyotr notices Fleur as the “funny pony” and ignores Glam’s attempt to ingratiate herself with him.

Fancy Pants arrives, saying that the awards show is abuzz with rumors about Fluttershy. Rarity and Fluttershy then head to their rooms at the palace and Fancy Pants and Fleur go back home. The next day, Fleur goes to the modeling office. Loosening her “polite” persona Glam then reveals how irritated and frustrated she was at not only meeting Rarity again but that “damn bird brain of a king!” and is infuriated at all the bad press that Fleur is getting. Not to mention that the spot in Pyotr’s show that was supposed to go to Fleur is now going to Fluttershy.

After picking on her assistant, Starla Shine (who Fleur notices she looks a bit like Rarity) for making the coffee too hot, Glam reveals that they should get back at them all. Glam persuades a hesitant Fleur by pointing out her insecurities of everyone else not really appreciating her (and nearly gets into a tirade about her own life)

At Fluttershy’s Rarity tries but fails to persuade Fluttershy to attend the show and so goes over to the library. Spike answers the door, saying the Twilight is out. Rarity then has him help her look for a few spell books and she comes across the “Want It Need It” spell.

“Aww...this is for inanimate objects...but if I mix it with this spell, then...” Letting her lips curl upward into a devilish smile, Rarity chuckled softly to herself.

Then suddenly Spike’s voice called out from the kitchen. “Hey Rarity, would you like one lump or two lumps of sugar?”

“Two would be just divine, darling!” Rarity called back, wearing a nicer smile until the dragon nodded and headed back to the stove, out of view. Looking back down at the spells, she chuckled once again.

As a result of the spell and suggesting the show once again, Fluttershy becomes Assertiveshy and she becomes much more focus on attending. However she starts to act somewhat like a diva around town, making the others of the Mane 6 concerned. They bring it up with Rarity and after much pressure, admits what she did.

“What? Rarity! That’s completely unethical of you!”

“Uh, excuse me, Twilight? I reckon you should let me handle this one?” Applejack steps in and tries to give a spiel that everyone else doesn’t really get but Rarity does.

She decides to go remove the spell but Fluttershy had already run into Fleur who had planned to say she wasn’t upset at Fluttershy for getting to be in the show.

“Hey Fleur! You le suck!”

“Qu’est-ce que c’est? Pourquoi tu dis ça?”

Angered, Fleur leaves and Rarity removes the spell and Fluttershy realizes what she’d done.

Rarity eventually manages to get the two of them together and talk out their issues. Rarity apologized for Fluttershy’s behavior and Fluttershy admits she doesn’t want to do modeling anymore. Fleur admits that she got into modeling because of Fluttershy and that’s how she got Fancy Pants’ attention.

“You were in all of the magazines! Even the ones that don’t use models, like Carriages Monthly!”

“Oh, well that picture was actually taken when I took cover under a carriage when a stray bolt of lightning was shot from a wayward cloud...”

“Still, Fluttershy...you were...still are my hero!”

Hearing this, Fluttershy asks Rarity to let them speak in private, model to model.

“But...I’m a model too!”

“Rarity, you wear your own designs.”

“Well, I, uh...ohhh...”

In the mountainous Griffon Kingdom, the show starts celebrating the new deal made between Equestria and the Griffon Kingdom for their feathers. Pyotr greets everyone and then goes about how he hates Diamond Dogs before letting Fluttershy take the stage. All the traps set up around the area are stopped one after another and Glam figures out that Fleur is helping Rarity take care of them while Fluttershy does her best as the distraction. From her vantage point Fluttershy screams out for Rarity and Fleur to get away from a trap they’re exposed to. After Fleur reveals to Glam that she doesn’t want to take part in the scheme anymore, Glam is severely irritated when Rarity says that she isn’t like she was at Fashion School.

After Rarity tries to calm her down, she rants that Rarity’s been a pain in her side for much longer, revealing how she was supposed to be a part of Hoity Toity’s show, she was brushed aside for Photo Finish’s line but before all of that they were in charge of the play together in elementary school and no one paid attention to the choreography she came up with because everyone was too distracted by the gems Rarity used on the costumes.

“I’m...I’m so sorry, Glam. To think that as your friend that I did all of that to you...”

“Hah! You’re not my friend! You don’t even know my real name!”

“...you mean, Glamorous?”

“Tsk...does Sandy Shores ring any bells?”

“Oooh! Oooh! I have an idea!” Fleur raises her hoof and goes on how the last name Shores makes her think of Sapphire Shores so that would be Sapphire’s real name. “But Glam, if you’re Sapphire, why didn’t you ever tell me?”

“Nonsense. Sandy Shores is Sapphire’s little sister. Any true fan would know that. But Glam, I admit I’m impressed that you know that but I fail to see what that has to do with the current situation.”

“I’M SANDY SHORES!”

“Oh, really? Say, would you happen to know when Sapphire’s next show will be?”

“How should I know? I’m not just some mouthpiece for that pretentious off-key blank flank! I’m sick and tired of always being in that diva’s shadow!”

Glam explains how after fashion school she was the one who came up with the idea of Ponies with Socks but Pyotr traumatized her for making fun of it which caused the fad to go away.

“IT. WAS. MY. IDEAAAA!!”

“Meanwhile everypony and their mom goes gaga over the oh-so-great Fluttershy even though they’re all the same look! La Belle? Demure? THAT’S JUST HER LOOKING SCARED! No wonder you look up to her, Fleur. Both of you are pathetic bimbos that only have friends because you’re pretty.”

“You take that back...” Fluttershy growled while on stage. “...you...take. That. Back! Finally, Glam goes ahead to attack Pyotr, however Fleur uses her magic to stop the projectile before it hits Fluttershy while she uses the stare and Glam’s knees buckle and she drops in fear, unable to say anything.

“Fleur is a strong, wonderful, beautiful pony both inside and out and just because you’ve had a lot of bad experiences does not mean that you can take your frustrations out on others and bully them!”

And other preachy stuff.

Still holding onto the projectile, probably some design thing that Glam had been wearing, Fleur goes “And Glam, just because we’re models doesn’t make us bimbos.” And she throws the projectile upward, cutting a rope and letting loose a bag of flour hidden as the last trap which falls directly onto Glam. “Consider that my resignation, Glam.”

Fancy Pants approaches Fleur, admitting he had no idea how deeply she felt about modeling and other stuff.

After all is said and done, back in Ponyville, Fluttershy gets a message from Fleur while she and Rarity are at the spa. Rarity takes a peek and reads how Fleur and Fancy Pants are on a second honeymoon but doesn’t understand the joke at the end.

Fluttershy goes “Oh, don’t worry about it, Rarity. It’s a model thing.”
