Well... · 10:46am Nov 24th, 2015
And I got absolutely nothing done today.
Way to go me. It's 11:44pm on a Tuesday night and I'm sitting here writing a blog thingy.
The last couple of days has been kinda terrible. I got sick and then had to go down south to say bye to my Aunt before she left to go back to the UK. Then I was going to write today (I swear on me mum) but sickness got in teh way. Plus, study.
Buy hey, at least I my last exam for the year is tomorrow, so that's good. Right?
Sigh... On the plus side this means after tomorrow I'll be able to write way more often which means I'll be able to upload chapter more often.
And because I'm a nice guy and sleep deprieved, I'll just everyone a small glimpse as to what the minimum pass marks are for end-of-year external examinations (they're called externals because they are marked externally. Go figure). NZ likes to pretend it can't hear what the rest of the world is saying about its educational system.
Achieved (lowest pass mark): 33.33%, so that's 8/24 marks. Rather shocking that a PASS is a third of the paper. Like... what?
Merit (lowest pass mark): 50.00% exactly, so that's 12/24 marks. Not too bad, but could be better.
Excellence (lowest pass mark): 83.33%, so that's 20/24. Yeah... not happening.
Each paper has three questions which can be marked from a zero to a perfect eight. Your total score across all three questions gives your overall grade for that paper, and if you pass you earn credits that go towards your educational qualification. It's like a gigantic game. So that's basically it.
