The One Where the Writer Sucked · 9:43pm Oct 17th, 2015
Oh wait, that's most of them...
In S1E20 “Green Isn't Your Color”, it is established that nopony keeps secrets better than Pinkie Pie. Keeping secrets and not being fazed by them is part of who Pinkie is. It stems from an ability to see life as it is and not demand it to conform to her paradigm. This is why she is not afraid of the unknown.
The scenes in this episode weren't bad, but I could not get into it while knowing that the primary conflict was once again based on a game of pretend the writer had when they were five after saying, “Hey, let's have them act in ways they would never actually act ever!”
maybe you should ask this question to G.M. Berrow.
She has worked with the main characters for a very long time so she should know how they act.
I however don't have that much of a problem with it.
That was directly dashed in 'a friend in need' when she tried to force cranky to be her friend. I do agree that Berrow overplayed it a little but it makes perfect sense to me why Pinkie now has problems with keeping secrets. The only way you can't have problems with it is if you don't think about it. Pinkie Pie before didn't do much thinking but that has changed. I think in 'pinkie pride' she learned to think more carefully about a party and not just jump into it. She took that lesson to heart and now thinks a lot more and is more organised in her life. That unfortunately also has side effects because now she keeps thinking about it without anything to distract her.
Also keeping secrets that easily also speaks of an introverted mind and that has changed as well. Pinkie Pie has become a lot more open about her feelings to her friends.
3583881 "Keeping secrets" is a learned behavior, a skill, and she keeps that skill sharp out of respect and love of those around her. Pinkie Pie is a complicated character full of pain. She could show that pain, but until she got her cutie mark, that is all she had done, and it won her no friends, but knowing that people suffer, she chose to be happy. Part of this choice is a careful balancing act of knowing what truths to speak and act upon and which to not - in other words, keeping secrets from others for their benefit. S1E25 "Party of One" should have shown you that everything that Pinkie Pie does is for the benefit of her friends, because the happiness of her friends gives her happiness. Keeping a surprise until it is time is natural to her.

wow, if you overthink it that much I get your problem. However I've never liked thinking that much, season 1 is my least favorite and season 4 is my favorite.
That has been dashed a long time ago. In Pinkie Pride she wants to make a party for the benefit of her own pride more than her friend's happiness.
Also why don't you take this up with G.M. Berrow?
