Fuck Yeah! The TTN train is a-movin' again! · 10:15pm Aug 5th, 2012
Hello my awesome, awesome readers! I have got some fantastic news for fans of A Tale of Two Nations out there. For the longest time I've been kinda hating how the story's been going but you know what? I figured out my problem! It started with a much more improved version of Chapter 1 starting off, I'm going to change the style of the Chapters into Journals, the story will change to a First Person perspective since that seems to be my strong point (plus there's a dozen other reasons I'm making the switch that I won't list here), plus more importantly, I'm going to be expanding the first four chapters significantly.
We're going to spend a lot of extra time getting to know him in Chapter 1 (that we'll now be calling Journal 1), so we're going to see some of his daily life up until he makes the big expedition. I also want to introduce a therapist. This is where we're going to get some immediate tidbits about the character which will slowly unravel as the story goes along. I may be referring to this therapist multiple times in the story, and all of you will see why.
Hopefully with these drastic changes, hopefully it might catch and keep the readers' interest regardless of the fact that it's an OC. After all, OC stories are the utmost hardest to pull off because they're characters nobody really cares about nor reads these FanFics for, right? So that's what this first chapter is going to try and focus on is setting up the world, and showing you the enigma that is Ashen Nightwing. Maybe once I get the ball rolling in this manner, it'll make every other chapter smooth sailing, but one can hope.
Anyway, long story short is that if you guys read A Tale of Two Nations, you may want to re-read it again, and you'll be rewarded with some new info being shed, and hopefully the quality will spike significantly from what is currently actually the First Draft. You should also be very well aware that I'm wanting to do a name change of the story, but that has been a challenge in itself. It has to reflect some very significant things in the meaning, which is why I chose the original name. It may sound like it represents just two countries, but it's supposed to mean two completely different worlds, because the NLR (which may have a different name) is very different from the way Equestria is, and not to mention the two vastly different main characters Ashen and the unnamed love interest. But most importantly, it's a story of loyalty and redemption. Trying to come up with a title that eludes to this has been a hell of a challenge, but hopefully something will give soon.
So that's the big news, everything TTN related is getting a major overhaul, and hopefully a drastic improvement. It should be the same story, but hopefully a lot more fleshed out, believable, and at least this time around, planned. After all once I first started, it was a bit of a formless mess and I had no idea where the story was gonna go, but now that I do, I have a very clear direction to guide the story now. Thank you so much for reading guys, and I can't wait to show you the new chapters!
Your humble storyteller,
-M.
