A new beginning · 3:17am Aug 14th, 2015
Hey all, I hope you all are doing good. I just moved into my dorm and finally got all my stuff setup, so this is just a quick update on what I'm doing in regards to the Itch. During the writing of chapter three, the idea of an offshoot of the Itch spawned on me. What if, instead of staying in Ponyville, Twilight leaves that night, never to return. It's still an idea at this point, though I've written a few paragraphs for it already. Here's a little beginning quip of what I've come up with:
I shut the door behind me, sealing off a life I can never return to. In the darkness of the night, I can feel the tumblers turning as I lock the door with my magic, stirring from sleep as though to send me off as good friends. How I wish I could leave here with my friends to give me their goodbyes, but I know that cannot happen. Too many questions would come forth; confrontations I must avoid. Yes, as much as my heart tells me no, this is the best option for departure: in the silence of night, alone.
The dirt under my hooves seems to bid me farewell too as I trod away from the town I have come to call home during these short few years. The rustle of the wind against the trees ahead of me whispers about all that I am leaving behind, making me want to turn around and gallop home, back past my locked door, up the stairs, and into my bed so that I can wake up and realize all that has gone on for the past month was nothing but a horrible nightmare, and that all is right in the world.
But I know that the situation I find myself in now is just as real and twice as dark as the shadowy forest looming up ahead of me, reaching out to swallow and devour me whole. I want to look behind me and gaze at my beloved home, try to capture it one last time before I leave, likely to never return again. If I do, however, I fear I will lose all strength to continue.
One last timeā¦
Unlike the Itch, I'm planning on doing this completely first person, without any journal. It's something I don't have much practice on, since I usually write in a more detached third person, so it'll be a fun way for me to expand my abilities. I'm curious on what you all think of it, so any feedback is appreciated.
I hope things are going good for you all!
Au revoir,
The Fruity Cousin
It could be an interesting story. On the one hand, there is no way that her friends or the princesses will let her just leave without tracking her down and in the inevitable confrontation she will have to reveal why she left and then hopefully get help. On the other hand, being in a stressful situation and not surrounded by ponies that she is personally attached too could make it harder to resist the urge, so it would be a race against time before Twilight killed somepony.
For clarification, do you mean that this new story would branch off at Chapter 13 rather than Chapter 3? I'm not sure why Twilight would leave at Chapter 3. Anyways, I would love to read this story if you decide to write it.

Sounds interesting! Any continuation of The Itch is a bonus is my books and such an idea has some benefits and disadvantages:
Leaving Ponyville means Twilight will be alone without friends and with no real idea or ability to cure the Itch so that almost guarantees her falling prey to temptation while at the same time saving the ones Twilight cares about.
On the other hand Twilight will be the only real established character in the story thus requiring more OCs to fill the side characters though I suppose you could bring in some of the new ponies from their travels outside Ponyville (Suri, Coco, Starlight, Daring Do, etc.).
Twilight will also need to be constantly disguised since she is still however-many times savior of Equestria, student to Princess Celestia, best friend to Luna, the keystone of the Elements of Harmony etc.
It'll allow for some interesting settings, maybe Twilight decides to try to assuage the Itch by killing mafia or criminals, perhaps she uses her friendship lessons to befriend ponies in order to lure them into traps, or she could go mad scientist and experiment on ponies to try to find a cure, so many options!
Anyways whatever you decide will be quite fun I'm sure .

Oh, whoops, typo there. Yeah, I meant thirteen. Thanks for your support, though.

Ooh, I didn't think of all those different possibilities! You're certainly right though, I would have to create a lot of OCs for this idea of mine. Thanks for your input though, I definitely have a lot to think about.

Well, who knows at this point? Even I don't! Thanks though.
