Shipping Wars · 3:52am Jul 30th, 2015

Shippng. Some love it, some hate it, and others just don't care. In almost any major media do you see major wars of who should be with who. Whether it be Adventure Time, Avatar the Last Airbender, Naruto, and even Lord of The Rings. My Little Pony is no exception regarding the shipping wars. You have Rainbow Dash the town bicycle and Apple Jack the virgin. In my personal experience the I could not care less about the endless war, if you are able to make a good romance fic with a believable relationship then I am happy.

For the romance genre as a whole I do enjoy it but it is a hit miss in most cases. For not only is it about the grammar and story line but the voice of the author as well. Everyone has their own philosophy and perspective on romance so I put my morals on the backseat to understand these perspectives. Even if the story has misogyny, feminist, misanthropy, or even foalcon I will still enjoy it despite the conflicts in ideology. Same goes with sexual orientation, if it's written well I will enjoy it no matter my view on the subject.

Now regarding my personal preference on what pairings I like it comes and go. I try to make myself enjoy all branches of romance literacy so I might be into Rarijack one day and Fluttercord the other. But if somehow I am pinned to the wall with a knife to my throat and I am force to pick, than I would most likely die from a split throat. As I stated before I do not read romance stories for the pairing but for the story it i able to tell.

Shipping is something I don't involve myself in, no matter the fandom. In fact, I'm not a person that enjoys romance stories in general.

I generally have the same outlook per say, for I find many romance stories both digital and printed to be either cheesy, cliché, and a tad bit over dramatic. More so for female young adult stories since it will most likely have the female character fall in love on the first chapter including a page just describing his strong jawline, black/brown hair, and his bad boy attire. For male protagonist they usually develop a crush either halfway through the book or even a series.

We will see what the Canon says....

Ah yes, the refined art of shipping. While I have been guilty for having a few ships myself (or as I like to call them 'couples I'd prefer to see in the show'), I never did truly understand the flamewars started over these. When you boil it down to the essentials, it's just fan speculations anyway. It's not cannon and, most likely, it is never going to be cannon. It's only your own little fantasy that a couple of other people share as well and nothing more. It's rather silly to fight over a fictional couple in your own fictional universe that is indeed based off someone else's fictional work. Conserve your energy for when you really need it, is what I always say.
