Fixing old chapters, almost getting a heart attack in the process · 10:19pm Jul 29th, 2012
So, I came around to fixing the formatting on some old chapters. You know, so they look a bit better and new readers won't drop the story just because it looks like the hind side of Chip after his accident in the Everfree.
So, I was copypasting the formatted stuff into the chapters they belonged to, all nice, clean and looking more or less flashy, when I noticed that, probably due to some brilliant idea, I was using more than one tab in Firefox. Can you guess what I did?
Yeah. I pasted the wrong chapters. Twice. Overwriting everything. You know what else? I didn't save it in Word. Nope -- why would I, it's on the internet, right? Oh wait, it just got overwritten...
It is here that I would like to kiss Microsoft Word on the mouth and thank it with flowers, chocolates and a back rub. I managed to revert all the changes in the unsaved Word document I was working on, and that was around 50-60 small operations. I then made quadriple sure (beat that, Twily) that I was pasting everything into the right places. And reset the browser just to be double sure everything works.
So this little adventure taught me enough to want to write to Celestia:
Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned that that writing can cause elevated blood pressure. There are no matters big or small, just important and unimportant, and each person will have a different list of things they care about. Keep being awesome and please don't punish Chip too hard.

Good. Now you've learned the hard way to always keep a right and proper backup.
Make a folder in yours Documents folder(assuming Win 7), and make doc backups of each and every chapter in there.
After that, make a folder in that folder, and make backups of your backups.
Enjoy life after witnessing death.
So very lucky, cuz the next options would be finding them on an internet archive site, or asking the webmaster to pretty please grab them from the backups, if such things even exist.

In theory, there are some word documents on my PC, but those are old and would require even more formatting.
