    FDA Writing Update

I’ve been listening to Writing Excuses by Brandon Sanderson, Howard Tayler, and Dan Wells. I always knew about it, but I'm not sure why I didn’t listen to it sooner. It started around 2008, but the stuff they were saying back then still applies to today. Right now they are currently on season ten. I have a lot of catching up to do…

And listening to it, I had an epiphany of sorts.

Season 5 Episode 12 - Study Buddies · 9:04am Jul 6th, 2015

There was a lot wrong with this episode, mainly due to the portrayal and mindset of Twilight. But I loved Moondancer. I dare say, she might replace Twilight as my favorite pony.

Slightly disappointed, yes. It's hard for me to grasp, but the main reason is because Twilight has a sort of savior complex (I need to think about this more and re-watch the episode to confirm some feelings). I think I might actually write an analysis of it later on in the week (if I'm not too tired from the convention) because it left me with so many emotions. I loved the episode dearly; it's up there as one of my all-time favorites, but there was a constant itch, a nagging voice in my head about how seemingly wrong the characterizations were and how the episode was playing out. (And I think I only feel this strongly about the episode because of Moondancer--my empathy scales are going off the charts!)

Minuette was weird, but fun and super optimistic. :twilightsheepish: All of three of her friends were kind of strange, but they grew on me by the end of the episode. But Pinkie's cameo with Minuette was fun!
