A Preview of Things to Come (Maybe) · 5:45am Jul 20th, 2012
So I thought I'd do a little announcement, regarding some of the ideas I've been bouncing around. You see, I have several potential stories I'd like to work on, but the problem is, I don't know which ones to actually do.
But first, I'd like to give a big "THANK YOU!!" to all the people who've been reading my stories, favoriting them, leaving feedback, following my account... Thank you all so very much! You rock! WOOHOO!! ^__^
Anyhoo...
Alright, so here are a few ideas I've been bouncing around, in no particular order...
~"Just A Dash of Apple"~
Applejack tries to teach Rainbow Dash how to cook. It seems the pegasus entirely lacks culinary talent, so AJ attempts to show her how to make some basic meals. Unfortunately, it turns out Dash is right about being quite terrible at cooking, and manages to set the kitchen and various other items on fire. Repeatedly. As you can probably guess, the story would be a one-shot AppleDash shipfic. No clop or anything, just cutesy-adorableness. Still in the general concept stage, no solid scenes and ideas planned out yet.
~Assassin's Creed Crossover~
Twilight learns a new spell that lets a pony relive some of their ancestor's memories. At first it all seems like good fun, until Rainbow Dash tries it out. She finds herself reliving the memories of an ancestor who lived shortly after Nightmare Moon was banished, when Equestria was experiencing a Renaissance of sorts after a small "Dark Age." Her ancestor, it turns out, was an Assassin. The story will likely be an Mature (though not overly gory) one-shot, though I think if it garnered enough interest and support, I would have no problems making it into a fully fledged story. I certainly have enough ideas to turn it into a full fic. Well past the concept stage, I have plenty of ideas and scenes in mind - the only thing really holding me back is the doubt that many people will actually like it.
~Lovecraftian Parody~
Just a silly little idea. Twilight uncovers the Cthulhu Mythos, or some Equestrian parody thereof. She then sets about to uncover the dark truths, and eventually manages to discover a ritual to free the Great Old One from his eternal slumber, or at least make contact with him. More random silliness than anything horror or dark. Nothing more than a concept right now, with a few loose ideas. This what happens when an MLP fan with almost a decade's experience with the works of H. P. Lovecraft gets bored...
~Dark Medieval Political Thriller~
I'll admit, this is probably my favorite idea. A very dark and gritty medieval MLP story, built in the same vein as Game of Thrones. Equestria is broken up into several small kingdoms, between Celestia, Luna, Blueblood, and Cadence. There's a lot of political intrigue and conflict between the different powers, with various characters caught up in the middle of it. The Mane 6 are all members of Celestia's court, though many MLP characters will show up in various locations and roles. The story will bounce around between different characters, showing their roles in different events as they transpire. Highlights include struggles for power, assassination plots, declarations of war, torrid love affairs, and an Inquisition or two. The story would be very long and intricate. I've got a ton of ideas and scenes planned. The problem, though... is whether it's worth the time and effort. How many readers would be interested in something like this? As much as I love the idea, I'd rather not put all that time and effort into something that nobody will read... Plus, the inevitable hate mail when I kill off certain characters. *nervous laugh*
So yeah, that's the list of current plot bunnies bouncing around in my head. I'd love it if some of my readers would be so kind as to give me some feedback. Would you kindly let me know what you think of these ideas? Whether they're something you'd be interested in reading? I'd especially like to know thoughts on that last idea.
OR... If you have a story you want to see written, why not make a request? If it's something I think I can handle or feel like taking a stab at, I'll let you know! :D
I love Game of Thrones, but an MLP version of it is not worth the effort.
I like the first idea, but why no clopping?
Comedy and adventure are the best pony genres in my opinion, since that's actually what the show is about. That's not to say that the other genres aren't good as well, I read everything, because there's good stuff in every genre, but nothing beats a story that's actually funny and exciting.
~Dark Medieval Political Thriller~
I vote this, If you are up to the task.
I think the AC Crossover would be a great success. Or, in the words of Dash, "SO AWESOME"
239704 Because clop is just not something I am comfortable writing.
And yeah, I personally prefer writing slice-of-life and adventure stories. But I'm running low on ideas for those right now, and I've got these other ideas bouncing around. So, I figured I'd share and see what my readers thought. By all means, if you have an idea or request for a slice-of-life or adventure story, feel free to share it!
240662 Oh, I'm up for the task, alright. But the problem isn't me or my writing ability - not to sound arrogant. I'm just worried about whether it's something people would actually like. I'd rather not spend hours upon hours developing an intricate plotline and writing out said story... only for no one to read it. Seems like a whole lot of wasted effort, y'know?
242018 Heh, thank you.
Anyone else want to share their thoughts? Questions, comments, concerns?
I'm also willing to listen to requests!
