I'm Back! · 2:15pm Jul 19th, 2012
And most of you didn't even know I was away! Or cared, hahahaha
So yeah, the title really is kind of irrelevant.
Anyway, I have been a very long way from home the past week and I just got back, tired as all hell and slightly brain dead. Where I was had absolutely no Internet, and holy crap, I think I died a little inside without it. There is pathetic, and then there is whatever that says about me. Catching up with everything has been a nightmare! (So much Youtube) D:
While I was away, I was still able to squeeze in a little time for writing, however, so I guess I could say I have news. Remember that post about being inspired at God forsaken hours of the morning? Well, that underwent my normal process of evolution and the end result was a story that I have been putting in as much time as I can (which frankly isn't much). I am currently about 2/3rds of the way through and hope to be finished as soon as possible. It's another novella in 3 parts, estimated to be just under 30k words long all up.
What is it about, you ask? Well, my friends... it's... well it's a little different, haha. Tartarus being canon is a playground for me, it really truly is, and I've wanted to write a story set inside a version of it that I have in my head for a very long time now. And when I got inspiration for a possible story to take place in this world, I had to write it.
And so I have.
It's tentatively titled Hell's Traitor, and it's pretty dark (read: it's very dark, and I'm not sure if EqD will take it for that reason, haha), but it's my brand of epic fantasy, and I'm liking it so far which is a Rarity for me. While it doesn't take place within my head canon universe, half of the world building is stolen from it anyway, so there's plenty to see in that regard to give a bit more depth.
I have The Last Tears in Tartarus to thank for finally showing me that it is possible to write a story about Hell in the My Little Pony universe and not have it be terrible. If you don't mind mega grimdark (don't worry, mine's not that dark), then I can't recommend that story enough. It's unbelievably good and criminally underrated at the moment. (Seriously, some of the world building material made my jaw drop in just how epic it is.)
Of course, this means that I had to put a hold on my 'proper' story, the one following the head canon line, but I should be getting back to it within a week. It's currently sitting at around 70k words, and I am really excited for it. Dragons are the best fun to write, I swear to God, haha.
Anyway, that's more than enough from me. I should... I dunno... sleep or something. Uni starts up again next week and 3 am bed times probably aren't the most conducive towards a healthy learning environment.
Ah well. So tl:dr: new story hopefully soonish provided it doesn't get destroyed in editing, haha.
Stay awesome!
And I haven't seen the new Batman! D: Gaaaah.
Great to have you back! I'm pumped to read about Tartarus, as I've always enjoyed the epic, otherworldly settings a magical world like Equestria can allow for. Your stories are always an absolute blast to read and I await its completion with bated breath.
By the way you did something. And I saw it. You capitalized Rarity.
"a Rarity"
Seriously?
Take some writing lessons, dork.
238292 Oh man, do I get what you mean, haha. So many great opportunities with all the fantasy stuff! And Tartarus... hehe. :D
And yes, you did see it I'm so tired, hahaha.
238300 Oh my gosh, stop, like, criticising my artistic choices. You just can't, like, understand my genius.
238311
238300
For realsies, yo. Mystic's too creative for a SQUARE like you!
238313 Hahahahahahahahahaha. All my love.
238320
*Fanfilly squeal*
Grim-dark? Not my cup of tea. Those kinds of things get into my head and make me squirly for days. Stupid brain. I know it'll be epic and excellently written, I just wont be able to read it.
238323
It's very well written, but it's VERY dark. The attention to detail is a little unnerving.
238323 Aww, that's too bad! Haha. But yeah, it is pretty dark, and I'm censoring heaps of the detail that I already had envisioned. Nothing overly gory, though.
238353 Yeah, The Last Tears in Tartarus is just brilliant, haha.
238355
Just finished it. It was amazing, but these feels, I am uncertain about them.
Still though, I'll take any reading recommendation you have. Your taste is impeccable.
238355
Doesn't have to be gory, unfortunately. Not to get inside my head. Doesn't help I'm at a 'low' point; ie lots of anxiety and am seeing things as is.
You said that you were gone in the message. Just where did you go, anyway? Did it have pirates? Did it have ninjas?
...Did it have pirates fighting ninjas?
Did the ninjas win? Silly question, of course they did.
Anyway, welcome back! I hope that you had a good time, wherever you were. To bad about the internet, not much you can do about it though. That said, I find it refreshing to actually be torn away from the computer and do other things. It helps when I'm not in the vicinity of one either, the temptation is to strong... Hmmm... that says something about me...
Whatever, I'm trying to say it's nice to go outside and breath fresh air every so often. Nature can be inspirational, after all.
And now we have clarification that the story is actually about hell... interesting. I'm kind of curious now to see whether or not you actually use the differing levels of hell, or just one large eternal plain of suffering. And just what deities you have living down there.
Yep, in short, I'm interested and waiting for it. It may not be completely canon to your current story, but somethings better than nothing, right?
I'm just going to stop rambling now, have a good day then
238415 Yeah it really does that! I couldn't shake it for days after reading it.
238615 Ahh yeah, I get that. Dark and sad stories... they can really linger. I hope you're feeling ok!
238934 It was on the coast, so plenty of pirates. As for the ninjas... well, we were the ones fighting the pirates... so I'm just gonna leave it at that.
But yeah, no internet, but more computers/gaming devices than was really necessary, haha.
Yeah, this hell is a cross between my version of Tartarus and with extra religious allusion, haha. I am curious as to what people will think of it in all honesty. Still, it's meant to be pretty epic in scope and detail, so hopefully there will be something for people to enjoy!
