Not all forumgoers are created equal . . . · 4:30am May 18th, 2015
I'm no stranger to a heated debate, and I can often come down pretty hard on someone who's both younger and less-equipped to navigate such discussions (and possibly less demanding forum things) but it always floors me when a reasonably competent person expects the same competency from everyone around them.
I've griped about 'willfully ignorant' people before, but some forumgoers simply do not have the tools, nor the ability to grasp stuff like nuanced social issues, and there's little hope in beating that kind of enlightened competence into them.
I'm seeing a sort of stupidity within smart people, a kind of stupidity that refuses to acknowledge what it actually takes to be able impart information to certain younger, or possibly disadvantaged forumgoers. We could very well feel justified in mocking them for their ignorance, or we could stop placing unrealistic expectations on folks who clearly do not have the advantage in the conversation. This prevents us from using our advantage to become bullies.
Live and let live.
Thee I see hast a grasp of weightier concept, but, perchance, couldst thou place an example? My coxcomb this day hath failed me, regrettably so.

This is essentially a drunk-blog. This is a nasty habit of mine.
I don't want to cause any forum drama by elaborating on a specific occurrence, and this is more than one thing. Fimfiction is made up of the young and the old, the educated, and the un-educated, social butterflies, and the socially dense. I've seen some social outrage recently that doesn't make any sense to me.
"OMG, what you said was SO offensive, even though it's debatable as to WHY I find it offensive, and absolutely no chance that you could possibly comprehend why this offends me, but I'm going to be outraged by it, anyway!"
I'd elaborate, but I really shouldn't have posted this damn thing in the first place.
Some people like to be internet bullies though. :^]

Many would choose to be in denial and justify their actions. I've been that person at times.
I really should have deleted this blog.

Don't, I like it.

Once the beer wears off, I'm not quite as comfortable venting about forum drama in public, even vague stuff. I can be rather impulsive at times, and I've said some stupid shit in blog in the past.
