Responses to comments on the first chapter of 'A New Arrival!' and other stuff...

Well hello there to all the people that are actually reading this blog!

So I guess I should start this blog by saying thanks a lot to all the people who actually read my work. This being the first fic I've ever written, it's great to see people actually taking an interest in what I write!

I actually, have an account on FF.net here which has 'A New Arrival!' with another 5 chapters, as well as two one-shot side fics to 'A New Arrival!' that are both Christmas and New Years Eve themed. So I plan on posting the rest of that stuff up onto here as well. That is all of them except, the Christmas themed one as I personally think that was me at my worst! Although, I won't stop you from going on to my FF.net account and telling me how bad it is!

The reason for why I started posting my stuff onto FiMFiction is mainly because, and I know it sounds weird, I actually prefer getting constructive criticism to positive comments! Those comments actually have some value to them, instead of the comments that go something like, "This is amazing!" or "Hurry up and write another chapter!". Constructive comments show people actually care about what you write. For other people to talk about how you can improve your work, shows that they actually care about your work, and want to see it get better. Obviously, the occasional positive comments as a confidence booster is always appreciated, but I want to get better at writing so that for future fics more people will be happier with the what I write. What I've seen so far, is that people on FiMFiction are far more happier to give constructive criticism than people on FF.net. Hence, why I'm here today...also I wanted to get more people to read my amateur fics! xD

Now I have to say thank you to all the people that gave a comment to give me the constructive criticism I need. Although, I do have to say, as I've already written the first 6 chapters and posted them up onto FF.net already, I won't be incorporating any of your comments into my fic for the first 6 chapters. Partly, because having already posted them up onto FF.net with hardly any constructive criticism, I think I'd like to see what you guys think of the next 5 chapters. Plus, I'm just too lazy to edit the remaining 5 chapters and one-shot when I've already posted them on FF.net. So please don't be mad if you don't see your comments being taken into account in the next few chapter and fics I will be posting up this month.
However, I will most definitely take your comments into account when I come out of hiatus in February and start to write up Chapter 7!

Now onto my responses on your comments!

First point on Numbers: *scribbles down into a note book* That's definitely something I can improve on!

Second point on punctuation: Damn it you've discovered my major weakness! Okay so if you read the later chapters in FF.net you will find out that commas in particular, are the bane in my life! I've repeated this many times on FF.net. So it is something I'm already fully aware of! I also announced on there that commas are one of the things I can't do anything about! Mainly, because no matter how hard I try I or someone else will always find some place where a comma could be added. So I've simply given up on them. However, Despite this I have been trying to put more commas in the future chapters of my fic. So it is still something I'm working on so thank you for pointing it out!

Third Point on 'Okay' not 'O.K.': Noticed how I used okay in response to the second point! I'm already learning! xD

Fourth point on "... .And, blah blah..." being a big No No!: Well surprisingly, I thought this as well, but an English teacher of mine a couple of years ago, said it was okay to do that, and even showed us a several sentences in the Harry Potter books that actually, do that as well! So I guess I just went along with it... Still I will most definitely fix it!

Fifth point on more speech: Hmm, well I think the later chapters of my think definitely have more speech, so I won't do anything to much on this point at the moment.

I will most definitely have fun with posting up more of the later chapters on here for you guys to read! ^_^

Honestly, you can give me all the criticism you want, so long as it is constructive and not just plain telling me how rubbish I am! I'm not the type of person to take offence that easily. I write for fun, none of this is at all very serious to me. so I won't take any negative completely to heart. So please do fire away with whatever you have in the future! I'll be ready for it *holds up a comically tiny shield for protection*

The commas I've already explained, as for the "few other areas". I'd very much appreciate it if you actually told me what those areas were! It would be extremely helpful to me for my future chapters/fics.

Woo! I'm not a complete failure! :D *pumps fist in the air* Hmm, *scribbles down into my note book* I definitely could've described Sunny a lot more than I did there. Although, if you decided to read my fic on FF.net, you would be able to see a hand drawn and coloured picture of Sunny, done by one of the readers on FF.net. (Yeah! This fic has fan-art to go with it!) BUT, I must stress that you should read the chapters first before looking at the pictures as they are about content from the later chapters of this fic!
However, the missing out of his cutie mark was intentional for later on in this fic. Although, I do write these essentially off the top of my head. So I may change my mind on the idea later on. Which may indeed make it a mistake. I guess you'll just have to wait and see. ^_^

I have to agree with you on that one. When I wrote this chapter, I was really trying to think of how I could get Fluttershy to be comfortable with a new pony in town. The food at home thing I think is justifiable as they've just spent a while talking to each other (so she would be at least a little more comfortable with him), and they're both hungry. Sunny offers to leave, but Fluttershy being the kind-hearted pony she is, offers him breakfast. I did really think about how to get the two together, when I wrote this. So I'm just backing up my point.up.

As for the helping out thing, I do agree with you on that. Not a lot of though went behind that bit. So I hold my hands up and apologise for that.

Finally, on to getting a proofreader. Well actually, I've been asked by a number of people whether I'd be happy to let them proof-read my work. However, for this particular fic. I don't really want anyone to proof-read this fic. This is my first fic, and I feel as if my first fic should really tell people just what kind of a writer I am. Whether it be a good or bad one. I want this fic to basically go up to people and say to them something like, 'What you see is what you get.'. It's hard to explain, but I'd rather let this fic show people who I am as a person, seeing as I firmly believe, that you can learn a lot about a person from the way he/she writes. So yeah...okay that was a rubbish explanation I know, but like i said it's hard to explain!

Pretty much the bit on proof-reading I talked about earlier. But, thanks for the comment anyway and especially, thanks for recommending me someone to proof-read my fic! Whilst, I won't be using him/her I still greatly appreciate the help! :D Also, I do hope you'll enjoy what happens in my fic as it progresses!

That's pretty much all I have to say at the moment. Obviously, I'll be posting up more blog posts in response to comments you guys put into the fic. Currently, I'm studying hard for exams, later this month. So I won't be posting anything new till February. However, I will be posting up all the existing chapter and the New Year's one-shot on here during this month to last during my hiatus period. Apart from that I hope this first blog post, was a good one.
