    I'm not dead!

    Sorry for lack of updates! Life has been a wee bit hectic lately, so My updates on Ashes to Apples have been slow-coming. I WILL be continuing, fear not! Touching up some pre-writing now, actually. Once I get a regular upload schedule, you can expect very little deviation.

    I'm back

    No huge blog post this time, just a simple statement. Anyone who reads my blogs may have thought I ditched FimFiction entirely, but I assure you, I have not.

    You can expect a new story this week, if not within 24 hours of this blog post being published. I'm starying a very different kind of saga this time around, and hope it is to your liking.

    FimFic; I am BACK!

tLoE V: How's the Weather up there? · 10:44am Apr 3rd, 2015

Welcome back to "The Land of Equestria"! And this week we're looking into an aspect that no Earth Nation can match! That's right, we're looking at Weather control! More specifically: How it Works, how it's Organized, and how the world survived before organized weather.

So, right off the bat, the process. Throughout the series, The weather process has been shown briefly, more in depth in some episodes than others, but putting them all together shows an almost complete picture of how it works. First and foremost, The Equestrians don't rely on evaporation for their work (and any clouds that may be produced naturally can be dissipated by Weather ponies, but more on that later), so instead, The Pegasi pick one large body of water each year on he ground to act as a source. A team of Pegasi then work in tandem to funnel the water up into Cloudsdale (Source: Hurricane Fluttershy), where it is stored and processed. From there, most of the water is transformed into clouds and pumped out into the air, while some goes to other projects, such as Snowflake production (source: Sonic Rainboom). Rainbow production may take water, but the actual process for making them is safeguarded, leading many to put forth conspiracy theories.... Regardless, These clouds, snowflakes, and Rainbows are divvied up amongst the weather ponies, who act as Chief organizers, and help sort things out.

In regards to how such a system is organized, it's actually very efficient. Each town has it's weather ponies/weather pony to take care of everything after it's distributed. They rearrange, sort, manipulate or flat-out destroy clouds in order to keep the system functional. More than likely, some clouds naturally form via evaporation, but these "unsanctioned clouds" are to be destroyed by a weather pony (Whenever Characters like Rainbow Dash clear the skies, it'd make the most sense to destroy the clouds that WEREN'T purposefully manufactured). Other Jobs include providing correct cloud cover, and causing precipitation, which evidently is scheduled per town (source: Look Before you Sleep). Now, It was not stated if weather schedules are made by each town itself, or of Cloudsdale and/or Canterlot Schedule them, but going off of the assumption that each respective "town" acts as a City State (see Last week's Post for more details), then we can treat clouds/weather as an import, and assume that the authority of each town makes the weather schedule (after all, a town should know it's own needs best). There are numerous benefits to having organized weather, such as Knowing exactly when to plant crops, not being surprised by rain/hail, prevention of catastrophic weather such as tornadoes and Hurricanes, and water conservation, among other things. Now, all of that being said, how could the land have worked before organized weather? Was it a cloudless, arid landscape?

Actually, no. Before organized weather, the Clouds, winds, rain, all weather in Equestria worked exactly the same as on Earth. Note, one of the only territories that is NOT regulated in the weather system is the Everfree Forest, and it was stated that in the Everfree Forest, clouds move on their own (source: Season 1 Premier ). This implies not only that there are unregulated movements, but unregulated CLOUDS as well, Which likely resulted from natural evaporation. Elsewhere, such as when spike journeyed far away in "Dragon Quest", he was shown facing inclement weather, which was only seen in Civilized Equestria once, and that was due to missing a scheduled rain shower (source: again, Look Before you Sleep ), which implies that In uncivilized/Non-Equestrian Territories, weather is left uncontrolled, and it therefore operated as normal Earth Weather would.
Now, as to when the weather system was established, How it came about, who came up with it, and how many weather cities there are (it may just be Cloudsdale: it's already been established that Equestria feels little threat from opposing forces, so a strategic weakness like having only one Weather producer could exist ), one can only guess, but this much can be said: it's a system that works, and will probably continue to work until The end of Equestria.

Recap time! Take a look:
-Equestrian Water Cycle: Lake->Factory->Clouds->towns->Lake
-Evaporation-made clouds are unsanctioned, and destroyed
-Towns have Weatherponies to organize what's been given to them
-Towns probably organize/Schedule their own weather
-if the system were to fall, normal Earth-like Weather would resume.

That's all for this week! Tune in next time for another installment of: The Land of Equestria! carry on everyone!

I'm Ironsmith, Invent on!
