Sex, Drugs and James Franco · 6:43pm Mar 31st, 2015
Ah 2012. What a time to be alive. Season 2 was in its prime, people thought we were going to die and the Wii U had one of the worst launches in history. It was a whole lot of fun if you ask me.
Also, a little movie called Spring Breakers was released that year. It didn't actually get to America until 2013 but it still counts.
I took a gander at it yesterday. I'll be brief: the movie follows the Gravity School of Not Actually Having a Story, but instead, is a social commentary about our culture and the real meaning of it through the idea of spring break, the time where everyone is supposed to have fun. Also, there's a bunch of boobs in it so if you get bored, you got that going for you. But the movie itself isn't what I'm here to talk about.
It really is 2012 if I'm getting the least bit excited about this.
So I'm sitting there, watching this movie when out of nowhere, boom, ponies.
Another hour later, boom again.
I'm trying to figure out the purpose of this in the movie. Is it suppose to juxtapose against all the violence, sex and drugs in the movie? Is it suppose to symbolize the innocence of the main characters in order to emphasize how spring break is destroying said innocence? Did some random fan of ponies manage to get it into the movie? We'll never really know.
But yeah. Found that while knocking out some movies from the list yesterday. Do with it as you will.
