Wednesday Weekly Writing Report #5 · 4:04pm Mar 25th, 2015
Good Afternoon everyone! Or well good what ever time of day you're reading this at. This is my 5th weekly writing report so with out further ado lets get this thing rolling.
"A man can only see how far he's come when he looks back and claims 'I made that piece of shit?'" ~ CCpone
Yes I know me and my quotes, but this one fits the report so well that I had to use it! So back to the report! As you might of noticed already I have been very inactive in terms of releasing new chapters or books. Why is that? Well why don't you sit down and let me tell you all about it! First off I have been writing the next chapter of Defying God albeit slow though as I attempt to complete other chapters of other stories that aren't out quite yet. That being said, I have been also updating Falling for a star. Yup that's right you heard what I said, I'm re-writing every chapter in hopes to improve the spelling and grammatical errors.
It's funny really when I look back at my writing, I used to think I was one of the best authors out there. In my ignorance I had failed to notice how bad my writing actually was. Now this being said you have to remember how far I actually came in terms of spelling and grammar. Which now that I look back is pretty dam far!
Originally this all started when I was going to brute force my next chapter when I stumbled upon reading my first chapter. Now I know you guys are nice and all but when I read my first chapter I was completely disgusted at how bad it was. How you guys managed to push through so many spelling and grammatical errors amazes me, let alone give it a like after that. I can now see where thous dislikes came from, I just wish they told me what was wrong instead of just pressing the thumbs down and leaving.
So as things tend to happen, I couldn't help myself and instinctively took out the old word document and started to correct everything I came across. I will not say that the 'remastered' versions are top quality that you would find in a real book, but it will rival the skill I'm at now. Which is safe to say that it will probably be re-written again in the future, if not frequently updated.
This is where you guys come in! Well the people that read my blogs anyway. If your up to boost your ego in helping an author out and telling him whats wrong then today is your chance! I encourage everyone that reads my books to P.M the mistakes you have found. This will not only help the future readers but it will also help me catch the same problems in future chapters, thus making your reading experience better. Now remember you don't have to do this, in fact you didn't even have to read this blog -yet you still are-.
Another thing that you may have noticed is that I have added Arcs! While I always had Arcs planed out since the beginning of falling for a star. I never actually implemented them into the chapters until now. I find that knowing what arc you're in is really helpful. Not only does it show you how far you've gone but also that their is something that all this is leading up to and by the end of the arc is solved.
Lastly I want to talk about the books that haven't been getting my love recently. Like: planet fall, living with lyra, ice and fire. Which now that I think of it is every book except defying god. These books will get updated as soon as I finish my quick editing through falling for a star. Not to mention after the next chapter for defying god as well.
Thanks once again for all your lovely support. It helps me write even though I really don't feel like it. Yet at the end I always find it to be quite satisfying.
~ This is CCpone,
have a nice day!
When ever I see a spelling error or grammatical error, I just fix it in my head and pass it. So i'm not a very good editor, because after I read the error, I forget that there was even an error there! Anyways, I hope that you are doing good in life, and that you do improve. Not saying your bad, just saying that there can always be improvements.
Like I once heard in the fandom, whether it was from the show, or a story, here it is
"Always aim high, but don't aim for the impossible,"
