Romance... NOPE! · 3:39am Mar 11th, 2015
I’ve seen a lot of art and read a lot of stories about the members of the Main 6 getting together. There are many fans that would like to see this happen in the show (example being RDxAJ), and while they’re fun to read in fanfic’s and look at in art, I don’t think it would mesh well in cannon. Here’s 2 reasons why.
Personalities - Each character as a very unique personality and while this is alright for friends they wouldn’t be a good mix in a romantic relationship.
Twilight is book smart and quite wordy and she’s borderline OCD
Rarity is a clean freak and a perfectionist
Fluttershy is quiet, shy, doesn’t like big crowds and keeps to herself a lot
Pinkie is just way to random
Applejack is a workaholic
Rainbow is brash and a glory hound
And thats just some traits of their personalities. AJ and RD are constantly challenging each other to the point that they would get into arguments and even fights. Pinkie can only be tolerated for so long till somepony snaps. Fluttershy would be to timid. Twilight would be to wordy and long winded at times. The list can go on.
Aspirations - Where do each character sees themselves in the future. Well,
- Twilight is a princess now and has royal duties, still has time to see her friends though.
- Rarity wants to be part of the social elite
Fluttershy just wants to stay home and take care of her animals
Pinkie... I have no clue
Applejack will stay on the farm till she dies
Rainbow want to be in the Wonderbolts
These are what stick out for me. Once more, if RD becomes a Wonderbolt then she’ll be moving all over the place to perform. AJ will not want to move nor Fluttershy. Pinkie is a major unknown. Rarity would also stay put but more then likely move around to different cities to showcase her dresses. Twilight has her castle, and so forth.
The only way I could see this happen is if the writers take something away from the characters that would make it more plausible for them to hook up with each other. But, that would take away what we all like about the characters. Mind you this is just my take on this and if Hasbro does decide to put some romance in the show I hope it won’t be between the Mane 6 and will be with either already placed characters (example: Big Mac, Soren, Spitfire, Zecora, Flash etc.) or new characters. Again, this is just my opinion. What do you guys think?
