As a brony who has only recently admitted to both myself and my friends that I like MLP and have liked it for about 2 years now, I have decided to start collecting pony toys. This started with a Gen 3 coconut scented Thistle Whistle that was given to me as a secret Santa gift. And as I believe happens to many bronys, once you get your first pony you start to need more!

Living in Shanghai I didn't think it would be that hard to find the toys, however, when I first started looking around New Years the it seemed that only the small corner toy stores or super ritz ones would carry the brushables. These came in two varieties: real Hasbro Toys reverse imported from the US costing about US prices (something I am at the moment unwilling to pay) and amazingly hilarious fakes. The first small store I stopped in proudly displayed a variety of brushables in the window hopping to draw in the expat children living in the area... however, after going inside for prices and more details I felt that something was off about these ponies.

It wasn't until the woman handed me two pinkie pie toys and told me that the one with wings was 12 RMB (about $2) more expensive that I realized something was wrong...

Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture (as she refused to let me).

I eventually did find a source for blind bag ponies at the local Toys are Us, and have been steadily reducing their stock.

However this brings me to the true subject the this blog and at least some of my blog posts to come, and that is the hilarity of the fake pony toys that I have been running across as the show has been becoming more and more popular among Chinese children (no signs of Bronies yet...).

So for my first Installment I present two taobao (chinese amazon) pages that feature some tiny horses.
