Well, chapter 4 progress is... happening. Albeit not very quickly.
Reasons being, I use my lunch and tea breaks at work to do bits here and there, but recent events are dictating I pull my head out of my arse and get on with the 'homework' projects I've been putting off doing in Machine Shop. Namely, getting a better paying job before the Machine Shop manager does the same...
As such, when usually I'd be tapping away at a keyboard and drinking coffee, I'm now blasting away on a lathe or mill trying to get some of the posh bits I've drawn up actually made up for my CCM.
Today's project was some bling ally 'washers' for the side panels and front mudguard. They're 9mm thick with a nice fat chamfer on the outer edge and a 6mm deep recess so the head of the allen bolt sits just under flush with the top. The ones for the side panel are 18.5mm dia, and the ones for the mudguard are 25mm.
Next project is to finish the plastic housing for the rev counter and measure up the speedo so I can make a similar one for that.
Then make the bracket to mount them both to the top yoke.
Although as soon as I can donate some time to prying the rear shock out of the bike, I DESPERATELY need to make up a new bottom bush. The current one is WELL fucked! It's only a matter of time before it seizes up again, and that could well end up snapping the entire bush mount off the shock, and I DO NOT want to know what WP Suspension would charge me for a new one, IF they still sell them...
I do like me some machining!
