Okay people, I think (that's a keyword there) I got something.
An Alternate Universe!
Wait! At least hear the rest of the idea, for argument's sake!
What I got in mind is this:
Trixie is a hitmare, a sniper. Way behind her are the days of the magician extraordinaire, but since the "ursa thing" she could't get any money from a performance, so she took the next thing she was the best at; hitting a target with anything.
It's not an easy life, but since there's allays someone wanting a bullet in someone's skull, it'll pays your bills. Of course, you have to be watch out, not only when taking a hit, but also in every other moment. Being a mercenary is not Celestia's or Luna's favorite job, so you have two radars you would like to avoid and, of course, there's always an unsatisfied costumer or angry familiar vowing to have your head.
It would be impossible if it wasn't for Trixie's as under her sleeve; nobody know who she is.
Taking the codename "Deadshot" and never showing face or skin to anyone while working, nothing can catch up Trixie... except her past.
Although Trixie is an orphan, she always saw the "Our Mother Faust Orphanage" and its ponies as some kind of family, always sending them a cut of her profits each month. But one month she doesn't receive the "thank you" letter back and that makes all of her instincts to sound the red alert.
When she travels back to Canterlot, she finds out why. It happens that the Pony Capital periphery is not what it used to be. The area is now under the rule and dispute of half of Canterlot's criminal element, and things like orphanages have no space to stay.
Trixe is a lot of things, half of them aren't even legal and the other half is not really admirable. But there's still a heart under her rib cage, cold blood running inside it, but still a heart.
Trixie steps out, Deadshot steps in. Time to hunt. *click*
This is basically an adaptation of DC's Deadshot mini-series. I'm still developing the idea, so there's literally nothing in stone (or even paper).

Nah. Anyways, AU is a touchy subject so tread lightly. Adapting a story is always great. It saves ideas and is a all around fan favorite for fics. Myself included. However, I would recommend not staying too close and add your own original ideas as well. Good luck!

Not too far of what I'm thinking about, the Sniper IS my favorite class after all (there'll be at least ONE phrase from him said by Trixie).
And don't worry, I'm only taking the main conflict as a base, but there will be changes, a lot. About the AU, it comes from rationalizing that a Equestria that has mercenaries and mafias is definitely NOT the canon Equestria.
