    You guys are great!

This is a shoutout for everyone who enjoyed reading my one-shot I published while preparing a re-write of my first two chapters for W2FA1. (If you haven't checked it out, feel free to. It's decent from what the pony folk say.)

Call me impressed! I usually make fun of myself and say my writing is garbage, but all that humor is being put aside for the duration of this blog.

In two weeks there may be a change.

I've been mulling over the confirmed rumors about season three's finale. So I've asked myself this question for about a week.

"When do I need to finally add the 'alternate universe' tag?"

Whenever I try to write more Twidash, my brain has other ideas. · 5:42am Jul 4th, 2012

Why is it that I try to write the story at hoof, but my brain starts asking "hey wouldn't it be cool if your next story was _______ featuring _____ doing _____ with ______ and the main character is all ______?"

Me: "Shaddap, brain."

Brain: "But seriously! You could have a story in which Soarin comes to Rainbow Dash offering to help her prep for an audition for the Wonderbolts, but Rainbow Dash overhears a conversation between the other Wonderbolts about how accepting her on the team forces out the worst performing flyer, which would be Soarin. Then she has to find out why Soarin would want to kick himself out like that! Drama. Conflict!"

Me: "But WHY would he do that? sounds pretty stupid."

Brain: "There'd be shipping!"

Me: "Well, now it kinda makes sense I guess. When those ponies wanna ship, they don't give a ship about what team they're on."

So, to translate that conversation now into a cover summary.

Rainbow Dash may have found her last chance at becoming a Wonderbolt through Soarin, who has agreed to sponsor her. The team meets her with mixed feelings, especially Spitfire, who doesn't seem to want her on the team at all. She is upset when she learns making the team means Soarin would have to retire but is shocked when he confesses his reasons for wanting to leave. Rainbow Dash is confronted by an impossible choice: give Soarin what he wants and become a Wonderbolt, or lay her life's dream to rest in order to make another pony's dream come true.

Hint: The shipping is NOT between Rainbow Dash and Soarin. If you've ever had the urge to quit your job because you weren't allowed to ask out the girl you worked with, this is the story for you.

I'm more likely to write this than my other ideas I blogged about, just because the story would be *much* shorter. Leave a comment if the idea tickles your fancy.

A SoarinxSpitfire ship? Sure, why not? It's not like we have an abundance of Spitfire shipping on here.

Well, ITS FREAKING YOUR CHOICE!!!!
If you desperatly want to write something like that, then do it! By Celestia's beard, just write it down!!!
Btw, yes, it does tickle my fancy (and Iam bucking ticklish)

211572 not sure if sarcasm.. :rainbowhuh: then again, I'm really tired and am processing a lot of things going on around me atm.

211579 Nothing desperate about it - a lot of the "hnnnnngh!" in that blog was added for humorous effect.

Either way, I wonder if all shipping writers write specific ships for the same reasons, or if they pick characters they like then make it work.

211894
It's not. I just prefer Spitfire with other mares.

And I've written shipfics for both of those last reasons.

211928 I feel Spitfire could potentially work in a lot of pairings, just because we've only briefly seen her in the show. There's enough room for characters like her to be believably expanded upon.

Did you write any Spitfire shipping?

211970
I tried in the beginning. The first thing I wrote was a SpitfirexTwilight story, but I never finished that one and it would need a complete rewrite if I ever wanted to continue it. It's on my dA if you're interested.

I think she could work with many ponies, too. But one thing I really, really would love to read is a good, longer TwiFire story. Cause, you know, Spitfire is best pony and Twilight ships are my favorites.

212081 Twifire? I could see really good fics come off that ship, because it would take extra work to flesh it out (unlike popular ships, there's not much groundwork laid out for you to begin with).

Like I hinted at before, my idea for Soarin x Spitfire was partially inspired by a personal experience of mine. When I was first transferred to a new Gamestop two years back, I really liked the associate I worked with there. But as her Assistant Manager, I had a lot to lose if things went sour in any attempt to approach her on the matter. I was very close to requesting a transfer or just finding new work just so I could ask her out. It wasn't until later that I discovered that lots of couples in my district pretty much did what I was afraid to do in the first place. Even if I knew that though, I wonder if I would've had the guts to do it.
