So I've got a pretty wordy blog post almost done (I want to say it's got three thousand out of a probable four thousand words down), and I've put another 1600 into a Destiny/MLP crossover oneshot, with about...I don't know, five thousand left in that one? So I've got pony-related things coming down the chute, buuuut this blog ain't about ponies.
I've been playing a lot of Destiny since I got it for Christmas - even went out and bought the artbook today - but I only just recently got into the raids. I finished the Vault of Glass for the first time yesterday, and went into Crota's End today, after I hit level 30 this morning. In my Vault of Glass run, I got about twenty Ascendant Energies - at various points in the raids, you get loot from a certain pool of items. In that pool are Ascendant materials (Shards and Energies) needed to upgrade legendary items, raid-specific legendary gear, and random-drop exotic items. In the Vault of Glass, I got seven or eight chances at items dropping. Every single one of them was Ascendant Energy. Two things made this especially painful. One, your level past 20 is tied to your gear, and I was three Ascendant Shards away from level 30 at the time I started the raid. One drop of Shards would have got me there. And two...some other guy in my fireteam got an Exotic off of the run.
Skip forward to today, and I go to farm Shards off of something else and level up. Then, I decide I want to try out the other raid, and find a group for that. While killing time searching for a group, I turn in a bounty I hadn't finished up yet, and manage to get my hands on an Exotic bounty; certain Exotics can only be found through these bounties, which have a very rare random chance to be given to you when you turn in a normal bounty. I get into the group, we start up the raid, and I start getting loot drops. First one is Radiant Shards, which are like Ascendant Shards, but they're only used to upgrade the expansion's raid gear. Second one also gives me Shards, but along with it, I get some boots, which are better than the ones I already have. Third's Shards again, which is useful now that I have something to spend them on. Then, on the fourth and fifth drops, I get an exotic and a raid-specific heavy weapon. The best part of this is, the exotic I got from the raid today is the same one that the other guy got on the raid yesterday.
