No one wanted me to kill off a Mane 6 character... which I agreed with. No one mentioned the one or two OCs I slipped in. I know I didn't do a lot to get you (the reader) interested in Noteworthy, and that was intentional; after all, that's a lot of work for a character I meant to kill off three chapters later. Her purpose has been served, still, do you want to see how Nocturne brain-shanked her or should I just continue on with the story?
As part of the next chapter? Perhaps it could be an explanation from one character to another, as they try to determine exactly what happened.

Pretty much I think it would be fine to have someone (probably Riven) explain how Nocturne kills ponies in their sleep, although the way you presented the attacks on Dash it probably isn't necessary. It would not be unwelcome though, and its unclear if Luna and Celestia are aware of Nocturne's personal mechanics, as their nightmare (that caused nm moon) didn't seem quite as sadistic. I'm also still unsure if it is in fact the same nightmare or a similar being from a crueler world.
It does beg the question of how Noteworthy died since she didn't so much as make a peep during her sleep. Meanwhile we got Dash over here screaming so badly a banshee would be impressed.

I have a reason, though if I don't decide to explain it in the next chapter, it could just be an unresolved plot point so...
Basically, Nocturne is getting better at it. He can be garish and gory in his machinations, but he can also be subtle and downplayed. He wanted Dash to wake up and remember; he just wanted Noteworthy dead. Same reason but different messages were sent.
