TOP 5: Personal Favorite Animated Villains - Part 4 · 3:40am Dec 31st, 2014
#2: Arlong (Origin: One Piece by Eiichiro Oda and VizMedia; 1st Appearance: The Most Wicked Man of East Blue, Fishman Pirate Arlong)
Cursed fruit, rubber men, high-sea adventure and lots of swash-buckling, what's not to love about one of the best-selling manga series in the world and anime to date, One Piece? To note, I have not really been up to date with the recent arc of the anime/manga (last full arc I saw was the Fishman Island one) but in my downtime, I will get on my Hulu Plus and go back to the original first season of the anime to see how most of the infamous Straw Hat crew got together (minus Ussop's arc...I personally don't like that, but I do like Ussop). And as expected in a hit anime like this, there are easily memorable baddies such as the red-nosed Buggy the Clown, tyrannical Axe-Hand Morgan of the Navy and the battle-crazed Don Krieg. But there is one (fish)man who stands above these as one of the series' most fiercest villains and easily this is a guy who you wish you could PUNCH his fucking jaw off...If it weren't for the fact that he can instantly grow up his chompers. I am talking about Arlong, antagonist of the fifth story arc for the series - the Arlong Park arc or sometimes the Arlong arc. Basically a half-man/half-sawshark pirate who possesses a big wallet and a HUGE cruel attitude, Arlong viewed himself and his fellow Fishmen as superior over human beings and wasn't afraid to brag about it or show his point. And thanks to his big wallet (though he could be cheap), he managed to bribe corrupted authorities to keep back of his back as he worked upon constructing a "Fishman Empire" in the East Blue (one of the areas within the One Piece-verse). But to why he's on here is not only because of his greed, his vile racism against humans and the usual traits that come with being a pirate...It's the fact that he FUCKING never intended to keep a promise he made with a young girl long ago - a huge amount of money for the freedom of a whole village. That he was going to NEVER let those people free of his tyranny and force that girl to forever slave away on maps for his conquest. And to adding to the fact that he basically killed her adopted mother in cold blood with a flintlock pistol, he is among the few character I literally wanted dead. D.E.A.D. No joke...He was utterly one of the most heartless villains faced. Luckily though for that girl, her village and readers/watchers, his plans would be thwarted by the star of the series and his pals and his planned empire left to crumble...But that isn't the end of Arlong's legacy. Remember that I mentioned that Fishman Island arc before? Yeah...Arlong's spiteful views on humanity would later come back to haunt Luffy and his crew...But I think it's better to see and read the arc to see what I mean. Arlong...A miser, tryant, and extremist all in one. God...I wish he was sushi...I could eat him...Luffy could eat him too.
