The problem of being me #1 · 8:31am Dec 16th, 2014
I think of myself a descent writer. My stories have improved, nowadays I have the usual 1/10-liking and in one case even a bit more. Well, of course a lot of that credit goes to my poor fantastic editors, who has to live with my drivel, but I still want to believe I have improved. But yesterday I found something out that annoys me.
I suck at proofreading my own stories. When I read other stories, my eyes are as sharp as mu tongue. Bad pacing, QC, blurriness, I see it all at once. Except in my own stories.
This has been the procedure with my last four stories. I give them to my editor. Then I read it again, to check if I want to add something. Then I read it again to see if we missed something. Then I publish the story. Then I read it again... and notice at least five points were the pacing is off, where it's blurry and at least three misspellings.
Why can I never see the weak parts until the story is up here on fimfic? Ok, spelling and punctuation I can accept slips through slightly, but plotholes? That's just embarrassing.
Only eight days 'til Christmas!
